My second victory

I played as Yor so I could get the +25% miniaturization and +8 logistics. I then customized the Yor to give them +50 research and +50 diplomacy. I selected populist as my politics for +20 morale and +20 diplomacy. As soon as I started I immediately bought a colony ship and a factory, then began researching Xeno Labs. I set my industrial spending to 100%, raised my taxes until my approval was 75%, and set my military and social spending to 25% with the remaing 50% in research.

So a quick recap for those of you who skipped that bit. I have +70 diplomacy, +50 research, +25% miniaturization, and +8 logisitcs. I am pumping out research and techs like crazy and soon I have 3 planets under my control.

I start pumping out scouts to explore and get an idea where all the great anomalies are at. As soon as I've researched survey modules and general life support I upgrade all of my scouts to survey ships and being raking in the anomalies. I've started to trade techs to other civilizations and I am getting huge amounts of credits, influence points, and non military techs due to my insanely high diplomacy score.

Soon I figure out that the AI is going for Missile tech so I begin researching Missile defense. Once the anomalies are gobbled up I upgraded all of my scout ships to attack fleets. Instantly I have the most military might in the galaxy and I have enough defense to stop all damage the AI can throw at me. The Korx started getting a little uppity with me so I begin to dominate their fleets. After about 40 weeks I manage to research planetary invasion and build a few troop transports. A few weeks later the Korx are no more. I now own half the galaxy. My military might is hovering around 280, my economy 180, and my approval rating is 90%. The game just cruised to cultural victory from here.

Thats my quick rundown of my latest game. I will field any questions or comments about my tactics as long as they are not inflammatory.

Ya, I'm going to go for one more win on Normal then up the difficulty. Gonna try and get something other than cultural victory this time.

Definitely up the difficulty setting. From the way you play, i would try to go straight to crippling and you will probably increase it even further.

At crippling difficulty, i had the drengin research all the mass driver tek and when i saw their ships with 96 Mass driver attack, i almost fainted. But i was the best researcher so in no time i got pretty good armor against that and good weapons too. Too bad the drenging didn't attack me directly.

All in all, i have to increase the difficulty level still because i get some stupid behavior from the AI. Like declaring war on me and going to attack another ennemy instead seems to be the norm.

Upgrading all your scout? Why? You could have created ships from your planet with less cost. Well, if you did not know what to do with the cash i guess it was reasonable.
