snarfo67, there was a very small update last night. When I ran the game this morning it launched without issue. Try updating your game and running it. Support Team, my issue has cleared now.

For your situational awareness, that "Support Forum" link in the actual error leads to this Support Forum in the Galactic Civilization IV Forums where presumably people with issues will get assistant from Support Team people. @snarfo67 and GalCiv 4 Support, I also received the same error today.
