Despite being point of view civilization of most campaigns and basically point of view civilization of the lore, we know surprisingly little about the Terran Alliance. However, I mostly like what I know about them. They are certainly less naive than Star Trek’s Federation, more militaristic and more willing to open fire and destroy enemy ships if it comes to that. They are less likely to sacrifice an advantage for some “greater good”. Bu

Because there is little human - written Gal Civ stories since the end of Gal Civ II era (and those that are are mostly wirtten by myself), I have turned to Chat GPT. I still prefer human - written stories, they feel better, but tyhis AI does quite a good job, especially with short stories. I would like to share three of such stories, along with their prompts. 1. Prompt: <article class="text-token-text-primary w-full focus:outline-none scroll-mt-(--header-heigh
This is a declaration of war from one of my custom civilziations. Now, after diplomatic screen was checked, it was confirmed it was a war declaration, but this messenge is not clear about it. All core civilizations have "(We are at war)" written at the end. But there's nothing here and it is confusing if it is a war declaration or just a threat. <img src="https://cdn.stardock.us/forums/75/1/7501384/1fc43a11-a3a6-4861-89ea-478efe2605fc.jpg" alt="" width="1029" heig
Literature is an important part of most of human cultures and, since most of the aliens in Galactic Civilizations are not that different from humans, it is fair to assume these aliens would have literature as well. So, what would this literature look like? What kind of fiction would be popular in these civilizations? What kind of literature would Drengin, Altarians, Arceans, Torians, Drath, Iconians, Korath, Krynn or Irydium write? And what kind of literature w
I have began writing an AAR from Galactic Civilization II campaign. It is composed of images from gameplay, with my comments, which include texts from game files. Here's a link to it: <a class="anchor_edefb8 anchorUnderlineOnHover_edefb8" tabindex="0" title="https://docs.google.com/document/d/1yxjAzdBI3xOvtkFZViq4pW3sBVTRr6yu0XEN8hLkCB8/edit?usp=sharing" role="button" href="https://docs.google.com/document/d/1yxjAzdBI3xOvtkFZViq4pW3sBVTRr6yu0XEN8hLkCB8/edit?usp=sharing" target="_blank" rel="n
This is a custom civilizaiton I made. I already lost twice with it on 3.0. I woljd like to ask for some adviuce on strategy how can win with it. <div class="shreddit-post-container flex gap-sm flex-row items-center flex-nowrap justify-start h-2xl mt-md px-md xs:px-0
Even if I am willing to pay for this, I cannt accept anything involving money and someone's else (Stardock, in this case) IP without their permission. But if we have that, we can talk further.
I like the Galactic Civilizations universe and think it has great potential. Which is why I write my Resistance series and publish it weekly. However, there is only so much I can write by myself. And when I write things, I know immediately what’s going to be there. Because of that, I would like to ask if anyone is willing to write regularly for this universe. It doesn’t have to be this long or often as I do… One small scene a m
While AI image generation is very useful, the images it makes often have errors. Sometimes, fixing such errors is very easy. Additionally, I sometimes combine more than one AI made picture with other. In this case, I had to fix the cage bars. By the way, which chick should be "Best in Show"? <img src="https://cdn.stardock.us
I have long been curious about how the Terran Alliance military would train its members. All we know right now is that DL Bradley was once a mentor to Jenna Casey (according to the evil ending of the Retribution campaign in Gal Civ III). With things I recently heard, I think this is something worth exploring in the Galactic Civilizations universe. Unfortunately, I am too busy right now with other writing (my Resistance series, other fanfiction and writing that
Despite humans being pretty important to the Galactic Civilizations universe, we know pretty little about their history. Of course, most of it is because that history is the same as the real one. However, there is a period between current times and Arcean probe arrival in the XXII century. All I can remember about this is that a “technological singularity” happened that resulted in the Natural Language being created. But I think there may be somethi
I made a lot of custom civilizations over the time. However, most of the time, I was just giving descriptions and letting AI choose abilities, command ships and sometimes even cultural focus. And even when I made these choices myself, these were my choices and I might get them wrong. In any case, I would like to know your opinion on this subject for a number of possible civilizations. First, a few from known fiction and then two made by myself I
While Terran Alliance is, in my opinion, a better, more probable representation of humanity than, say, Star Trek’s Federation, it is still different from current humanity. The invention of advanced cold fusion and free, nearly limitless energy really changed humanity, at least on the surface (and what was beneath only surfaced when humanity was threatened). In addition, some things have changed that are not exactly specified and were just a
Most of the civilization abilities in Gal Civ IV have at least one core civilization using them. Because of that, it is clear how they work with lore. But there are a few abilities that are not. That can be used in custom civilizations, but are not used by any core civilization. These abilities are: Cartographer </
Tale of the Arnor mission is pretty good and brings a lot of new information about the Yor and the Iconians. However, there is something that bugs me. In the mission, set far in the past, both Iconians and Yor/Nyx have hyperdrives. While this is necessary for the mission and I understand they had a limited supply of them (only what Arnor gave them and they could not manufacture hyperdrives themselves), they still had some. Which begs the question
I would like to talk about the Iconian ship style in Galactic Civilizations III and IV. As can be seen on the picture, the Iconian ships look like some creatures, probably sea creatures. And lore actually says that they have biological components at least. Now, since Iconians experienced a robotic uprising, it makes sense
Altarians are said to have unusual abilities. However, they do not seem to appear that much in the gameplay. I would like to ask you what abilities they can (name and how they work) and how they could be maybe modded/implemented into the game.
Despite their sympathetic lore, in gameplay, Torians are really… annoying. Twice in a row, they got unusually high prestige very quickly in my games and now, in my game as the Xeloxi, they are bullying me for technology and money. Does anyone know why it’s the case and what to do with these annoying frogs?
I did that, but I really couldn't do anything.
I have just played a game as this Ocampa civilization and I lost because of this Chiton civilization achieving a prestige victory. I would like to ask you if you have any strategy advice, including on settings, that would help me avoid this in the future, as I will be starting a new game as the Ocampa tomorrow. I have a little problem
Shards of the Tellenath are some of the most mysterious devices in Galactic Civilizations. They are, in fact, the only artifacts that are not technological. The Tellenath crystal was made at the start of the universe. It was used to create Arnor. And Arnor used the Shards to create their civilization. From what we know, they could serve as an infinite power source, which the Arnor could use to create everything they wanted. <
Now had you asked which is the most misunderstood that would be the Korath all the ever wanted to do was feed their babies.
They didn't have to break away from the Drengin Empire... and the Korath who are Krynn citizens are doing just fine without all the genocide.
Well, some civilziaiton treat conqiuered citizens better than others do...
I would like to ask you this. I would like to know opinions about this. What species in Galactic Civilizations suffered the most? Especially from the major civilizations. My opinion would be Drath. They got almost genocided on their homeworld, Altaria, for no reason other than Altarians feared them. They were evacuated and found a new planet. They planned their return, but Terran stopp
I was talking about Drengin propaganda quite a lot some time ago and even wrote some myself. However, I recently began thinking, would other civilizations have their own propaganda? Terran, Arceans… Even Torians or Altarians? And what would that propaganda look like? Actually, there may be something. The image I attach is an Altarian communication w
