I've been unable to raise the relations to anything above Warm. At least I feel better knowing that. If you could form alliances purely from giving out a few measly influence points, I don't think I would bother submitting to the Mverse.

Since I upgraded to the latest beta, I've been having the same problem. Clicking Submit doesn't seem to do anything. I could submit games using the previous two betas. There are no cheats on, etc. When I click submit rapidly, the game will crash. What gives?

Qui-Gon: Yes, I think this is a new addition. I didn't notice it prior. I don't know if this a bug or not, but in one of my recent games, I had an alliance with the Drengin. It was late-game, and at the same time I had raised the espionage bar to its max. Every turn I was stealing one to two techs until I surpassed the Drengin's tech level. The Drengins said nothing; in other games when I successfully stole techs and had no alliance, they instantly declared war on me.

I highly suggest that you do NOT buy Galactic Civilizations "used", from Amazon, EBay, or any site that deals in "used" software. The reason? To get the addons, i.e. free BonusPak, downloadable improvements, events, and so on, it is required that you register a user nick as well as register your unique serial number. I used to revel in being as evil as possible. But being good is much more difficult and more fun that being evil. Occasionally if I'm getting my butt handed to me by the AIs, I will make some evil choices, but not enough to bring up the evil UI.

Go to the Register Product menu under Tools in SDC and input your serial number. You will receive verification from Stardock. You should be able to DL the beta now.

Ray is right- In my first GalCiv game, I encountered a space monster that lay waste to my civilization. Over the next 3 months, I never saw one other space monster. Until getting the first beta of 1.09. I don't know whether to be happy or sad that space monsters are more common and events are rarer. :( [Message Edited]

Dr. MD - Brad has said that he is considering adding 3D to a future GalCiv version, plus other features, but that would be far, far from now. SD has yet to break even in terms of revenue from GalCiv, and until they pass that point, there won't be a GalCiv2. Me? I'm crossing my fingers for the best.

Mail [email protected]. They should be able to help you sort out your problem. They will ask for your serial number just to make sure it is not overly used (more than one person), then will proceed from there. They have been very helpful and friendly in the contact I've had with them.

That's the entire thing. By being more geeky you define your individuality. I've never been a role-playing geek, but more of a history geek. I get off on facts and numbers and things that not many people know about. Call me a news junkie. My brother is big into anime, I had a friend that was a music geek: he was into heavy technical devices for composing House. And on and on. From reading Steve Jackson game books to playing MTG competively to loving history. What an improvement.
