You can't beat a nice big sack of peanut M & M's :D
Essex Ascendant
Essex, I think it's divided by the square root of the number of games in the last month (31 days).
Whoops, I knew that just screwed it up. So in my example your score is 8110/2 = 4055. Was past my bed time when I posted :)
Keep plugging away john we need as many undead canucks as we can get :) Here's how the scoring system works as I know it. First everything is blocked into 31 day blocks. 2nd to get your adjusted total for a block of days, add all your scores together and divide by the square root of the number of games in that block. For example if your first 4 games you have scores of 100, 1000, 3000 and 5000 then your adjusted score is. 8110/4 = 2055 Unfortunately th
Were you having some sort of problem or fit or something?
Well I'm not up to playing gigantic maps yet but what I do seems to result in positive income on maps up to large size. 1)Trade Trade Trade I never use SB trade enhancements (perhaps I should just haven't tried em because I haven't needed to) but I do everything I can to make sure all trade comes to me by starting wars, buying freighters, whatever it takes. My own trade routes are almost exclusively to the furthers minor I can find so I don't help any of the majors eco
The 1 point influence is probably like the real world where you give lip service by calling and chatting for a few minutes without really discussing anything important
Yes I thought of that too eradicus and it does seem kind of real world like. However the fact remains that by taking diplomacy picks and using this it is just about impossible to lose a maso game if you know what you are doing.
they went through the unambiguous communications plus majesty I,II,III. Having exclusive control of those 4 is similar to diplo translator power and my diplomacy edge from my initial picks vanished
Ric, did you try trading them a planet in an area you had a huge influence advantage in. The ais will give you tons of techs and even ships for planets, even planets that will soon flip back to you ;)
Wombat you have a very similar play style to my own. It works on any size map in fact. I am surprised you are able to get diplo translators that late though. Usually a minor grabs em in my games if I don't go for them early and then I just trade for them. The truth is though that all the wonders and trade goods and other influence things are just gravy. 4 or 5 Culture SB's in a sector will flip all planets in adjacent sectors pretty quick no matter what other influence you have. As
Pretend to be Canadian :) We're all about free trade ;p
For some reason when you ask the metaverse for the top average scores on gigantic, Cotal doesn't make the list anywhere when she should be in first by a wide margin. As you might be able to tell I'm at work with no work to do right now :)
When I play I usually use culture flipping to take the ais planets. Sometimes an ai will have a planet or two a long way from most of their other planets. After I have culture flipped the majority of their planets the ai will completely strip the planets they have left instead of scrapping some ships. These planets are under NO cultural pressure at all but when I invade they have zero improvements. Often they are building terraforming or hyperion shipyards or some such expensive building

You said nice things about him? Were you drunk? :p
So Brad I guess the question remains as to whether anything has been done about this influence thing? :)
11 because that is the minimun number to get you on the average score list. Go to the metaverse and move the top sliders to average score and small and then try average score and medium and you will likely see what my goal is :)
While we are talking about the french.... Go to www.google.ca Type in french military victories Press the I Feel Lucky Button Good for a laugh :)
Hmm he seems to have had success as he has 4 properly submitted games now.
Essex99, that's because you were treading on holy ground.
I'd like to make some witty and amusing comment here but unfortunately I can't because I have no idea what holy ground you could possibly me referring too. Please enlighten this sorry sinner. (:(
That said, you could submit a few small cakewalk games, getting a few points for each, and as long as the "square root" divisor doesn't catch you, get promoted pretty quickly....
I could.... but then I'd watch my overall score plumment, not to mention dropping tremendously from my current number 2 in average position. I'll just be patient and continue with my current strategy I think :)
Great write up Sirian :)
I think they mean the fact that 6 or 7 fully outfitted starbases in one sector even a sector without a planet you own can get you over 1 million influence in adjacent sectors making it extremely easy to win any game even at the maso lvl. I assumed that there was some bug causing multiplying of influence effects from starbases instead of an additive effect. Maybe I'm wrong and players are supposed to be able to create absolutely enormous amounts of influence.
You aren't canadian by any chance? :)
Cotal I plan to play 11 games at each size (except tiny). I've finished small and have one more medium to do (I'd be done that but I accidentally submitted a game under the wrong name and apparently its lost forever :() Not likely, but I may get to huge before you play a huge and I'll let you know if its possible to get 60k or close to it.
I got quoted in the review a couple weeks ago and it made my day :) I felt all tingly all over agin ;)
To improve relations, have a good diplomacy rating and give them gifts. If your diplomacy rating is much higher than the ais then you can get away with giving them 1 influence point every 3 or 4 turns and soon you will be close with them. Trading with an ai also helps improve relations.
