Now that the crunch time has wound down a bit, I was curious if Stardock had made any decisions regarding how the TG.net phase 1 people can purchase an upgrade to a boxed copy of GalCiv 2 so they can have the pretty manuals and such for their collection. I know that tokens are out of the question, but details on how to accomplish the upgrade would be appreciated.

I usually play with the AI at Intelligent (full algorithms, no cheating) I can say that the AI gives me difficulties on a regular basis... I tend to be a pretty peaceful player, and the bullies in the galaxy take that as an invitation to declare war
Well... Since EB/GameStop has storefronts in (at least) nearly every state, you'll probably be stuck paying sales tax. It's the law. Living in Georgia, I have to deal with this on any EB/GameStop orders myself.
It's because Stardock is selling the game at its recommended retail price. Other stores have flexibility to cut their profit margins and go below that price. However, if Stardock lowered its price, all heck would break loose when the retailers learn about it.
The care and effort that the Stardockians have put into this game is amazing. Most of the stuff they've been tweaking for the past week has really been minor stuff in comparison to the bugs most games suffer from at launch. Whether you've played the beta or will be getting your first taste of the game in a few weeks, you are in for a heck of a treat.
There are indeed a number of random events. Additionally, maps and planets are generated randomly based upon a reasonable number of user setup options. I don't think you'll have any issues here.
I can only say it so many times and ways... It'll be worth the wait.
@Aulhel... you should still preorder it. What would Rick James be without some extra bling?
Well... part of it is when you research, say, laser II, that's the same as laser I, only smaller. There's often a jump in size when moving from one class to another, say, lasers to plasma weapons.
This issue should be totally resolved in the release version. IIRC, the cause was found and fixed a couple gamma builds back.
EBGames also has great customer support. You can call them with any questions about your order if you have the order #
Or "bling" as it was previously known
Hmmm... wonder if the stock exchange works on a morale bonus tile...
If you're not a gamma tester, keep the version you have until release day.
Well... The best I can offer to you is that release isn't that far away now, and it's MUCH better than the last public beta version.
With all the caveats here: I've never had issues I could trace to upgrading versions.
I don't think you'll have any issues. And it's not for another few weeks, anyway.
The biggest issue will be your video card. If it does not support the use of truetype fonts through DirectX 9.0c, then you are out of luck.
Well... at this point your only real chance is to build a time machine. Then you could either go back to the beta period, or you could go forward to release. Let me tell you... After playing the current gammas, there's no way I could go back to the final public beta. You're in for a treat when the game launches.
I know that this issue has been identified, and the team's aware of it.
While the game may not ship with an interface that's especially friendly to color-blind players, the technology used to create the interface is such that an interface could certainly be designed that would be easier on your eyes. As mentioned above, the software needed is a quick download from Stardock, and you could even make your own interface. I think that the default AI colors can be changed in the XML files that initialize those races.
Always interesting to see your reports... I keep testing on large maps so we see different things.
As Popup Target posted, the latest word is that the game will be 2 CD's. Then again, once you have your serial number, the CD's are just pretty pieces of metal and plastic... I don't even remember where my GalCiv1 cd is
I think Brad was just using Dutch as an example and not really picking on you guys Heck, I'd like to have an option to swap languages to brush up on my French.
In a prior set of postings, Stardock indicated that all 3d models in the game, as well as all graphics and text, are in common file types. As such, it should be possible to import custom ship models.
