Just like one can choose the opponents for the starting sector. Why not add the ability to choose opponents for unexplored sectors. That way when one is able to go to different sectors they may be met by a surprise of an AI built up as much as them. Like in Deep Space 9 the worm hole opened up a new sector and the Dominion was not happy. Think of how this would help put new life into a game you thought you had won.

It souns like your fans kicked into high when a temp was rerached. When I had awcc installed and running it had profiles for cpu, gpu, and fan. I believe my fan (thermal) was at Preformance. If all else fails you can install hwinfo and auto start it with the system and set the fans to 100% I run diagnostics while in alpha. or tweeking setings. After that is just feel how hot the air comming out the vents (if at all) is.
If you have a nVida card you can use Experience and click on the battery boost and go to optimze for battery. In the Control Panel I turned off all, maxed power and Performance on 2 items, and down to 20 fps for 2. Also zooming out when ever can helps. My power was destroyed when I decided to see what Alienware Comand Center was like now. Causing me to redo and fine tune it some more. I also disabled my Intel from loading in Task manager startup. My setti
Idea to add a tab for sector reports in the "Civilization" page.
Part of my stratagy is targeted upgrades. Is there a way to allow part of a rush/upgrade: 25%, 50%,75%,100%.
Eventully it should be on Steam and they allow ofline play.
The one thing I have noticed the most is the game pace. It is not a race to see who can militaraly conquor a map. It is more a management of a Civilization that lets one game go on for much longer. Only if one can rein in their lust for blood.
Had to redo it and found that command Center/3D/Program setting I now have the ability to adjust the power management. I put it down to consistent and a few more degrees were cut. All this cuttng is not affecting my turn times; only the program load time.
I played with it some more and made it go through turns faster then usually would and could no tget it above 43C
As some of you know heat is my thing. I have tried many combos to get it down and for me I have gotten my rtx 2070 Max Q to go no higher than 42C. What did it for me was: 1. I used gforce experience to get the studio driver, go to whisper mode and optimized my battery. 2. I used nvidea control panel and went to 3D settings. From there I added GCIV. Then I set it to use my 2070 and changed the fps (bottom of list) from 40 to 30. I also did this for the Epic Laun
I thought they did. My bad.
I see it as green. There are more potential buyers in China and Europe then the US so go with a Chinese gaming platform. I am sure there are other goodies in that decision but remember what make the world run.
It has changed since that post. Now if you want to you have to buy the game from Epic https://www.galciv4.com/store
Sounds like me. Ijust try to stay zoomed out as much as posible and if I get too hot then zoom out and take a break.. I wish I could put a cap on my gpu some how but it is what it is.
The title does not say it is above 0.4 alpha but my gpu is not going crazy and making tons of heat. Now only 30% usage with temps below 50C. So far. Running an old game with more items to calculate the usage is up but my temps are staying below 50C
Back to my 2019 laptop. I tried to underclock with msi afterburner and play with Windows power plans. It is as if the game tells my gpu how to act regardless of what I want.
Got curious and tried that Smart Game Booster and with it acording to Task Mgr I am 15C cooler
Add a button to zoom on the ship screen in botton left so one can be zoomed out when ever posible reducing gpu heat.
Yes; being on a laptop thermals is a big deal to me.
Using Hwinfo and Task Manager I found this is repoducable depending on my zoom level. max zoom out and back to 45C. Even when leader and Diplo screens open it is fine. Do I need all info of what is around me when zoomed in or in another screen. You could add a check box in options/graphics to only calculate info of your Civ and/or where ships are. If playing the game and want to see other info one must give the computer time to calculate it.
It is the gpu. When I have the optons menu open gpu usage is 10-12 %. and temp is 32-35 When I go into the regular screen it is at 70% usage even when doing nothing. for a few minutes. I have the graphics to low but when I double check it says custom even though things are turned off and low texture is checked. I think I will try the nvidea control pannel 3D setting to use my integrated Intell for everything and see what it does. That and auto select do the sam
When I stay in the ministers or diplo area too long my temps rocket up. Leaders/Ministers was opened first and stay there even after on th main map for a while. The result seems to be my gpu reving up to 79c.. No program is 32C
That was an Alienware laptop from 2012 cpu - 3610QK - 4 cores 8 threads gpu - Radeon HD 7970m RAM - 16 gigs OS - ReviOS - they took windows 10 pro and cut out bloat+ The game launched slower but turns ran fine. I did not adjust optons and it still ran apx 20F cooler then on a laptop that is 9750H 6/12; 2070 Max Q; 32; Windows 10 Home
The 4 alpha seems better then the 3 beta. That says to me your 4 team has done lots of hard work building a good foundation.
