I installed and registered Sins through Impulse on my laptop and now Im trying to put it on my desktop... and on here Impulse is telling me I dont own Sins, and the CD Key I have used is Invalid. Whats the deal?! edit: Oh wait, no. Something else is afoot. I've logged in as Overheal instead of 1987. Blah. Hey, admin-y person! I own both Overheal and Overheal1987 - would it be possible to delete the Overheal Account (tied to

well cmon. look at an 0 and look at an O. Surely not impossible to differentiate.
I'm also a bit worried about the high cost. That isn't all up front, is it? That'll make it nearly 15K creds and 2K resources! A moderate fleet can be had for that kind of scratch.
In fairness its meant to do the work of a moderate fleet. Defense Fleet, anyway.
I did my fair share of College LANs before the summer but that was months ago, im rusty, and I feel like trying out Vasari, so count me in.
sure why not.
Overheal - No idea what you're talking about. That computer would play sins very well, unless you're talking about 10 AI and 100 planet maps. Anyways, there is a Demo for sins if you feel trying it out on your system before actually buying it.
That is in fact what I'm getting at though. But even on a 40 planet map with 8 players, once it gets into the mid-game you will see it grind down from all the ships in pl
yep no worries. No guarantees for your build when playing with lots of AI and on the Large and Huge maps: that would probably bring it to its knees.
Amazon would have bought those copies as wholesale from Stardock, meaning that on release they would have sold it at the MSRP. With loose stock on hand they are just looking to get rid of it. The MSRP is still $39.99 This thread is just another example of why Amazon and others have done it as well; the increased popularity of Direct Download is beating the sale of Discs with a big stick.
Automatic Doors. You forgot Automatic Doors from Star Trek.
It probably wont run amazingly, and you will have major problems playing on the Much larger maps, but could comfortably play a Small or Medium size map (which if you've never played sins, still translates to really big!) I'm pretty sure you pass Minimum Requirements but check anyway: http://systemrequirementslab.com
I dont know if its just the Vasari, but when you look at a Capital Ships info card it lists the strike squads as 0, 1, 2, and 3. I mean yeah technically thats correct, you nerds! But in-game it just stands out as weird.
Its not necessarily your computers ability to draw that is the choke. Like others have said, the game has do run hundreds of lines of script and code for each Player/Ship in order to run its "AI". That Increases drastically as you add more ships. And, as you add more planets, you add more routes, and add greatly to the number of calculations that need to be performed for pathfinding. In short, The problem is much more CPU than it is GPU. But, it being at this stage incr
...Why Windows Media Center starts up any time I close Sins?
speed is a big factor of the colony caps. I mean I like using one as the Command Ship in any of my fleets, but it slows the entire fleet way down. Meanwhile the player that sticks to the faster assault caps can get the better flanking positions. I would just have the egg follow behind the main fleet, but i get terribly lazy in the mid and late game, and its firepower is far too important in the early game to dick around like that.
This is quickly devolving from a conversation about in game advertising to a full blown inoherent rant at the industry for trying to generate revenue. As for World in Conflict (thats the Russia invades America game right?) Absolutely mental game. Never once noticed advertising, outside of the usual tripe at startup (nVidia!)
how long is a piece of string?
Your example would be more of an exception rather than a rule. Gamers need to read reviews before buying games. If the product looks half finished, DON'T BUY IT. Wait until patches fully fix it and then reconsider teh purchase. Although the publishers/developers made a flawed product, you're not forced to buy it.
The problem I have with this is that you consider this the norm. Whereas with console games its simply a matter of "Is this game fun, y
Making the Superweapons more powerful would break the game. Like Nightmere says, its not Red Alert, and your enemy's superweapon is not 20 seconds away by airstrike. To go take out a superweapon would require a monumental effort, and anywhere up to 30 minutes to an hour of Space Travel depending on the map size. And thats assuming you dont run into resistance, or high numbers of Phase Jump Inhibitors. It would give a Player license to cause total havoc for that entire length of time.
Advertising itself isnt the issue here. When you think about it, games have had advertising in them, for like, evar. Think about a Tony Hawks game or a Grand Theft Auto game. In some cases, it just fits to put Ads in, and theres no harm in the Devs getting a few extra bucks by doing it either. The Problem is that you expect that by tolerating Live-Ads you should be entitled to an additional level of Product Support. This isnt an unreasonable claim but it is unr
Since the begining, buying a PC game more or less entitled you to Own that game. Meaning if you were in posession of its files, you could play it. This later evolved into Licensing, which is FINE . I like licensing. It makes sense. Licenses with some applications like Norton only permit you use of the software for a limited time. Licenses for Gaming Engines, again, have restrictions. But Traditionally, a Games License itself entitles the purchaser a Copy of th
I have an awful habit of sticking to one faction in RTS games. For Sins I'm a complete whore for the Advent, and I have yet to even play a game as Vasari. TEC's Marza Dreadnought is definitely my favorite cap of theirs though, Its offense is just great. For the Advent I kit out as many Carriers as I can: I love Strike Craft, and I love Lasers. That ship was built for me. For the same reason I like keeping a healthy escort of Illuminator beam-frigates. The Advent Carrier
Im in the habit of placing 1 broadcast center on all of my planets. Crazy?
Oh, found it. User Documents and Settings. Thanks man, that seems to be working!

I recently installed Impulse and Updated SoSE from 1.03 to 1.05. The game has successfully installed according to Impulse to version 1.05. However when I go to run the game, you get the black loading screen (entering Fullscreen Mode) Normal - but then the game minimizes to the desktop. Any time I try to restore the game to full screen it goes immediately back to the desktop. What gives?? I have had a copy of 1.03 working on
