Oak: Is ranged.
What? Oak is AoE. Only one ability, Pentitence, that is ranged. Ranged demigods can stand behind a line of creeps, taking out the creeps in the back. Oak actually has to stand next to the target to whack it. :)

Since all this talk about new demigods, I thought I kick an idea about for an expansion - Referee gods. Such gods would be NPC's and represent a third team. They could provide balance, where needed and since they act entirely for their own amusements, what they do would represent a bit of randomness, hence making an otherwise unwinable game, winable. I don't see how this would work on current maps, so new maps would probably be needed. Thoughts?
GPG has delivered v1.01 of Demigod to us. It's in internal testing now.
Question: is this mostly lua-based code or underlying engine? Reason I'm asking, it most of my crashes involve an "unhandled exception" with the stack trace along the lines of "attempting to index nil value" which is a lua issue.
Last but not least: quiters. no i am not talking about rage quiters. if the game is unplayable due to lag or it is 100% certain that their team is going to lose then there is no point sitting and watching their citadel getting destoryed. In all professional RTS matches the loser quits when he sees that he cannot win. NOBODY wants to see their base getting destroyed. However, people randomly quitting the game for no reason is extremely annoying.
Ummm. This is not a

I'm starting to get upset --- really. Several games, the "host" dropped out. I know this because the game doesn't show up in my "game list". Of course, I spend 30-some odd minutes running around a big map in a dominate game, only to find out afterwards that absolutely NONE of my efforts were rewarded. NOT EVEN 10 FAVOR POINTS. I'm talking specifically about a few Pantheon matches today. I did the /serverproxyonly deal, and I'm getting a better exper

First, kudos on "just a little more info" when attempting a match. Second, kudos to "Frogboy" for showing up at 11:45-ish in the PM in a Pantheon match ( I hope all the diagnostics were on ). HOWEVER - FYI - there we were 5, yes, 5 players. Here's hoping a 4v1+3 AI on Frogboy's team. Then 4 players, 3 players, ..... dialog box- Match-making service failed. So, at least I know that HE knows that there are still issues, sigh. To bad a) I was

Okay, forgot about all those things..... [e digicons]8(|[/e] I stand horribly corrected. In my simple-minded defense, I remember reading a post where someone went on about how you only needed 1 key to play UB, as many skill as passive.

I've gotten crashes, lots of them. Sometimes more than one per day. from demigod.txt - from the first "warning" to the last line warning: Error running /lua/sim/tasks/AbilityTask.lua script in CScriptObject at 312d9870: ...dock games\demigod\dgdata.zip\lua\sim\scripttask.lua(74): ScriptTask.TaskTick called. I was shopping Amazon for a new joystick and took a gander at the game pads. Started thinking, buttons 1-2-3-4 map perfectly. In fact, it looks like just about everything could be done simply with a game pad. Then I started thinking XBOX 360. Of course, on-line would require XBOX LIVE, which I don't have yet, I'm XBOX SILVER, but for THIS GAME, I would probably go ahead and get it. The advantages are networking, mahcine configuration, machine performanc

Take an opposite look for a second. Let's say you are playing 2v2 and your team totally smashing the opposition - perhaps the match-making went bad and put two noobs against two great players -- and you are one of the great players: what should you do? I would go after achievements - play a different way and start racking achievement points for things you don't normally do. This might extend the game a bit longer, but still, you know you got the win. I play m
A 30 to 40 second delay between the time the server processed a message and actually sending a response.
Been thinking - will I get 100 favor points for getting it right - I bet the outbound processing delay is a high-priority thread - and I also bet you got a low-priority thread also going. When low priority threads get sufficiently starved, the thread scheduler stops everything - even the high-priorities dead in the tracks, to allow the low priorities to run -

Okay, about 1 in 10 games crash. Sometimes I get a "UNHANDLED EXCEPTION" dialog with a demigod.txt log file and some lua messages. What should I do. In the beta a GPG error box poped up, now, if I select "break into the debugger", Vista does a "checking online for a solution".... Does this submit the minidump? FYI: updated video drivers to lastest WHQL release (ATI 1950), updated audio drivers to latest WHQL release (SB Audi-whatever), been to Windows Update

Okay, I've been behind Stardock in the concept, even as things evolved - even the idea of favor. But now I'm not so sure. Just finished an awesome match with several good players. A Sedena and an Erebus bot against two Oaks in a Citidel match. The Sedena player was awesome, ( nl2mm ), and I almost "conceded" when the war rank for 5-1 against, and Sedena got to level 6 before either Oaks got to level 3. After a gruelling 101 minute match, where most of mine ta

When attempting to join a match and you get the "Attempting to place you .... ", I've noticed that by moving my cursor over the cancel button, I can play some niffy tunes. Since I have absolutely nothing else to do for the next twenty or so minutes, could you plesae change the pitch, depending on where the cursor crosses. :)

Gunslinger.... I can understand exactly what you are saying, I'm a bit confused though, on how you tell whether you are 'expected' to win. Let's say I'm playing a Pantheon game, 4v4, and seven of 'em are AI's. The mix of AI's is pretty important, when the other side has all Assassins and your side has all Generals, for instance. Are you saying that a Win % can be meaningfully calculated in this scenario? (ps. I know that SOUNDS sarcastic, but it is not meant

C'mon, send me your minions. :) With Oak, all I need is a great big bunch'o enemy minions, drop a Death Ward, and hit'em with Divine Intervention. The ones that died become souls, making Oak stronger and by dying, replenishing my army's health, then crack away with Divine Justice, and kill the rest, each time, making my army healthier and Oak stronger. Oak eats minions.
