And there is a problem with the first it gives you double the research so instead of 2 levels you get 4 levels.
That is what that mini mod is supposed to do. I think Maelstrom might add a few units to the vanilla factions, however, it also adds new factions and at one point at least did not have the reputation as the most balanced mod. However, its basically the only one that has tried to replicate the vanilla Sins art style.

It's probably your mod order because SotP likely changes the same file. You would need to make the same change to SotP directly, or better yet, copy SotP's Gameplay.constants file, make your change in your separate minimod, then enable your mod above SotP in your mod order.

I'd greatly appreciate any help with this.
As far as I'm aware, no mods have successfully added a research arrow type that doesn't already exist in the game.

There's no explicit documentation for Sins, but its basically the same process for any game you're trying to play over local network. Back in the day I used tools like Hamachi to help configure this, but I'm not sure what are the popular options these days. Rebellion has been heavily discounted (80% off) and even twice given away for free, so I'd recommend still keeping an eye on it if at all possible. :)

Rebellion and Trinity are entirely different versions of the game. No amount of modding will get them to work together. The best solution would be for your friend to upgrade to Rebellion, as its the newest version that has the most features. It's been on sale many times on the digital stores its sold on, and twice its been given away for free.

Sounds like you need to convert the data to "text" format from the binary format you're probably seeing. https://wiki.sinsofasolarempire.com/index.php?title=Convert_Data

In general this is a good example of why buying used PC games are a bad idea these days. Stardock at least is nice enough not to put DRM on their physical game discs (though I think they only do digital sales now), so you can always play the version of the game that came on the disc. But updates do require a valid license, and chances are the person who originally bought it still has it registered to their account. Stardock support is the only ones who might be able to help you, but I

I'm not playing with my settings substantially less going to a site that supposedly contains malware.
Please read my post above. Do not download the game from Gamestop. Download it directly from Stardock.

Gamestop games is dead. Their purchase of the Impulse store in a nutshell did not work out well, and they ran it into the ground. You probably don't want to touch anything with Gamestop. Thankfully Stardock has your back, and if you registered you game, you can download the latest Original Sins/Entrenchment/Diplomacy version from the Stardock Store .

What game are you playing? Sins of a Solar Empire? If so, make sure you are getting the first few population upgrades on your planets ASAP. Most planets have a negative credit penalty until you get the first population upgrade or two. At that point the penalty is removed and you'll get tax income proportional to the population.

If you check in the mod tab of the main menu option, if the checksum is 0, that means the game did not find any game files when you enabled the mod. Usually this is caused by a duplicate folder when you extracted the mod from its .zip file. You should have a bunch of files and folders in the folder for Sins of a Galactic Empire. E.g. It should be Mods 1.85 -> Sins of a Galactic Empire -> lots of files folders like GameInfo, Entity.manifest. If all you see is a folder, you need t
