[quote who="CariElf" reply="7" id="2321763"] We don't go overboard on Hungarian notation. One of the programmers who used to work at Stardock before my time was seriously into it so that if he had a class named classEditFieldsFrame, he used name variables classEditFieldsFrame * pceffEditFieldsFrame. It was bad. Now, what we'd do would be call the class CEditFieldsFrame and then delcare the variable like this: CEditFieldsFrame * pPlanetViewFrame; or s

[quote who="Sinon" reply="5" id="2256078"]Could someone please explain to me, why so many people think Supreme Commander is so great? This is not meant as an offence, I just get the impression I missed some points. I played it a whole while ago (vanilla) and to me it alway was turteling and then being the first to build the really big artillery and the tec 4 (5?) units. All other units were completely pointless and the artillery even made the big ones questionable. In my memory SupCom was a g

Quick and very stupid question: I think I preordered the game. If I didn't, I certainly meant to preorder the game. Impulse doesn't seem to show any indication that I did, though. Is there any quick and easy way to tell if I did or not before the beta comes out? Do those of you that did have a Demigod icon in Impulse? Random side note: are they going to keep changing these downloady things every couple years? We're on #3 now with Impulse.

They said it was years away from completion...but that was years ago. I think they're way overdue for an update. I haven't even seen this game mentioned in updates from Stardock. My guess is that the game has been scrapped.

The way I've sorta been assuming it'd work - and maybe this assumption is wrong - is that geography would protect new players. Since position in the world seems to have meaning in this world, you'd set time 0 to point A, and as the time from the start of the world increased, you'd increase the distance from point A. When a new player joins, they start at that distance from point A. So as time goes by, players start further and further from the origin point, and thus further from the players who'

some use, but the second looks like it's fresh out of the stardock. Hmmm...there's an idea...darken the ships with age? It's probably too much work for too little gain, but it'd be pretty neat.

Try increasing your research rate. Focus on miliatry techs to improve your existing ships and hopefully to get a ship class they can't make yet. You can quickly turn the tide of a war with a new ship class. Also, have you built the +starship buildings on your planets (shipyard, advanced quality control, etc)? Ships produced at planets with these buildings have better attack and defence. This could give you the edge you need to make headway.

Took me two days, about 12-14 hours of game time. The last twenty or so turns mostly involved me clicking through the screens as fast as I could so I could hit turn. I was sending out stacks of 16 constructors (I only bothered moving them out of star systems when they hit 16) to build partypalace-terror stars, so it was only a matter of time before I culturally dominated everyone, and I wanted to get it over with.

Also: I've noticed metaverse totals are not just a sum of your scores, nor are they an average. Anyone figure out exactly how they're calculated?

I recently finished a game on the gigantic sized map against all genius AIs. I had conquered most of the galaxy, but ended up winning a tech victory. I'd already gotten bored of the mop-up phase, so I didn't want to just wait for military/cultural conquest, both of which I would have had within 20 turns. Anyways, my score ended up being about 1800. I was expecting a higher score considering how hard the game was. My large game with bright level AI got me 1000 points, and was also a tech

There are a lot of new threads here all of a sudden. I read through a few, but didn't see this bug mentioned. Here's the situation: A drengin starbase was on an economic resource. I had a stack of 10 constructors seven spots away, with a movement of 8. I moved them right next to the starbase, then destroyed the base with a nearby dreadnaught. I moved onto the resource, built some improvements, exited, then noticed that I had a movement points left over. It said I had 1/0 movement points

There are a lot of techs already in the game that could be changed to be good only. Things like Universal Vaccinations (or whatever it was called). Think about it; even if an evil civilization did develop something like this, why would it get distributed to the general population? It's so much easier just to let them suffer, and besides, you might accidentally kill a potent bioweapon! There are several other techs in the game that could be converted to good or good/neutral only. ~SDC~
