I have a mid spec system, and I've set all graohic options right down, and big games still run like treacle in winter, even when I'm zoomed all the way out and just looking at planets. It all gets very distressingly slow. IMHO Entrenchment is unplayable on big maps, since millions of mines just clog everything

Another issue on the fog of war I never understood, is why all ships are visible when jumping between stars? It just seems unintuitive, and always gives information about attackers on the way to your star system.

Or you can simply open the galaxy file in a text ediror and change the line from there. It's the 8th line down and usually reads: planetArtifactDensity 0.150000 The galaxy file is located in the sins local settings file, e.g. C:\Documents and Settings\"your username"\Local Settings\Application Data\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Galaxy

I've noticed that AI's seem to spend a lot of time doing nothing or shuffling ships around late game, even though they still have major fleets, and can do serious damage. I'd always assumed that at the end strategy gets very complex and the code just can't handle the complexity.

Please can we ensure the UI buttons stay in the same place, it is just going to be such a pain, if I keep hitting Kol when I mean to build a scout. My initial impression is that for me, Entrenchment is quicker than 1.12, things seem to be happening quite a bit quicker on x1 speed.

Well, while it's hard to disagree with anything specific said above, I thinkthe diplomacy does add to the game, and does allow players to build allies and thereby win games that would not otherwise be possible. I believe the current diplomacy option in Sins is better than the diplomacy options in other RTS games I've played. But if you don't like it, then lock the teams. On the subject of cheats, I think it's well known the AI gets extra incomes on hard & unfair levels, but again

I enjoy playing Sins enormously, but I always find winning such an anti climax. There you are working hard to crush the last AI, and suddenly you're pitched into the win screen. One change I would like to see is an option to explore the universe a la Age of Empires. It would be good to easily look around and see what remains of your enemies, and what remains unexplored. Again looking at AOE the last AI always gave some feeble excuse for resigning, and I think it would be good

I've recently played a couple of games against a single unfair AI with pirates inactive. The AI keeps putting more and more bounty on me throughout the game. It seems there's a bugette in 1.11 in that the AI is not correctly recognising that pirates are inactive.

Does anyone know if you can calculate how long it will takes your cap ships to overcome the hostile culture on a planet, that prevents you from colonising it? I would like to be able to make an informed decision about whether I should leave all my fleet there, cos it's only going to be a short time, or move everything but the caps onto another target, cos it's going to take some time. Thanks

I also think the AI's are rather dumb about choosing their requests, in a recent game against 3 AI's, the early stages ended up with me beating up AI1, while AI's 2&3 fought each other, but often they asked for missions for me to attack AI1, whereas common sense says they should only ask for missions against their enemy.

It's not too difficult to outbid the AI. First keep concentrating with your mouse over the bid button, and second don't stop concentrating until the pirate raid is launched. The clock counts to zero, then there is some extra time to bid, and the AI usually bids after the clock is at zero. So make sure you keep watching until the raid is actually launched. On the subject of pirates one thing I'd like to be able to do is to have a small panel, that I can keep off to one side that shows th

My apologies if this has been answered somewhere in this enormous thread, but do I get an unfair advantage over the AI by taking advantage of ship graveyards and gas giant colonisation? To the extent that the AI will never utilise those research items? It would be a real pity if I did, and have to give them up, cos ship graveyards are huge fun. thanks

Playing against 2 AI's, say AI1 & AI2. First one I come across is AI1, so I set about taking his planets. Now AI2 is giving me lots of missions, which I'm completing, not cos I'm trying to but I am naturally destroying AI1's ships and structures as I take his worlds, which makes AI2 happy with me. AI2 offers me a cease fire, which I take, and then a peace treaty which I take. Finally I wipe out AI1, and immediately get the victory screen. I guess since I'm at peace with AI2 and AI1 has go
