novaliths are awesome.... i jsut had a game on the map "grindstone" (that one where u have 25 planets and 8 players) in which i had 8 novalith cannons by the end of the game, one on each of the planets i controlled i just nuked the crap outta every planet it would let me and i won XD would never work on a larger map though i didnt even ahve to go on O, my capships just protected my frontline worlds (which also had novas) and i was free to fire! i do so love the explosions th
alway
i have jsut found something that would be extremely easy to implement (a single dev could implement it in the time they spend reading this) on the display of your planet's allegiance, the part where it shows the increase rate, make it show to .001% instead of to .01% this would make sense because it never (that ive seen) goes above .05%, and it increases so slowly sometimes that it would be nice to see more precisely what it is at
i think they need to make AI not flee as easily, this would prevent players like me from making a fleet of 16 capships and no frigates from being able to kill every AI fleet in a previous large game, 3 huge AI fleets were trying to take my last remaining planet... i had a 16 capship fleet and no frigates, every time an enemy fleet came, i focused all firepower on their capships, almost immediately after the capships all died the rest of the fleet fled despite them almost certainly being
i experience some slowdown as well on large maps, and im fairly sure its not jsut having to do with the number of ships onscreen almost constantly on a large map AI somewhere will be fighting.... and im fairly sure that when there are enough AI battles going on at once, as there ussualy are in large map battles, the game slows down
Progress is a process, and you can't expect people to get everything perfect the first time out of the gate.
even though they did... :D about unit diversity: think of it this way when we were cavemen, all cultures were pretty much the same... hunter/gatherers who lived in tribes as our knowledge and technology grew, we became much more diversified and our cultures were no longer able to be grouped into one large catagory of tribal hunter/gatherers<br
yep, there are a bunch of em ive encountered, kalamite gives trade boost others include: agragarian society(increase to trade) expert metal/crystal miners(increase to metal/crystal mining) plus a bunch more i cant remember basicly they are there to keep you exploring even if all 9 artifacts have been found and give some benefit to those not lucky enough to find one there actually quite common, about 1 in 2 or 1 in 3 have one
lol i think u mistyped.... dunno if its been mentioned yet: " It isn't hard to get lost " should be It's hard to get lost SoaSE FTW :D nothin makes me more satisfied than watchin 100 advent bomber squadrons (with between 7 and 10 bombers each) take out enemy capships in under 10 seconds :) now THAT is effective swarming
i personally only use the empire tree for doin stuff with my fleet... if u select it, the tree goes right to it, so it makes selecting a capship that leveled up really easy as well as making sure all warships in the well are in my fleet
i make about 2 or 3 per game, as i am EXTREMELY capship oriented when it comes to fleets my fleet always has at least one capship with colonize ability, so i colonize within a minute of when the hostile fleet is destroyed and/or the enemy colony is bombed to death
ya, check audio card.... playing freelancer i had a problem with the 3d sound and every time i went thru a jumpgate the comp crashed, disabled it and it worked fine
well done indeed! hehe... maps done loading! back to my large map game lol :P 4 hours in and still barely gettin started! i love this game so much :D
i initially ran this game on a system with a 6200, 2 gb of ram it was smooth even with high settings on everything except zooming in on huge space battles i since received my 7600 GT :) now everything runs like butter in a microwave! even my opposing fronts game with full effects :D yay for sin's low reqs!
buy it before i bring out my advent psy powers and mind control u to MAKE u buy it :D
not sure, but its not copy protected so u can back it up on another pc, an external hard drive.... heck with its install file size of 1gb u could even back it up on a cheap flash drive
it is released on the 5th, it just ships on the 4th.... so it will arrive at your house on the 5th
i though game came out on the 4th.... but the countdown timer AND bestbuy's site says 5th "Release Date 2/5/2008 " is there something i missed :\ meh... nvm.... i kept thinkin today is the 2nd...
hmm... that is odd.... the countdown timer says it comes out on the 5th...
the novalith cannon can basicly fire thru a jump lane.... so any plants connected to the one its orbiting are fair game without risking your fleet in a possible costly invasion I'd love to know how you came to this information...
i think it was in pc gamer's preveiw... the 2nd one, in mid-late 07 if i remember right the dropped some info on em :P
all i know is wal mart had better have sins in their store.... and they better have shipped my graphics card to me by tues :P
OMG A SPORE RELEASE DATE!! what will come next????? duke nukem? :P
hehe the closest thing to sins i got right now is good ol' Empire Earth and its expansion pack (the first one i mean, the 2nd was a big helping of crap) but all that changes in 2 days when i get sins AND my new graphix card to make it all shiny :)
ya, havent heard much on the topic of AI since early betas (around 2 or so) since noone is complaining despite having beta 4 in alot of ppls hands... i would say they are good enough to pose a challenge while not being to tough... jsut right in other words :)
also, the distance from which that ship i mentioned is firing shows that range must only be computed on the x and y axis... so it pretty much allows multiple ships to be in same place as far as range goes
here we are:[link="http://youtube.com/watch?v=0DCv4Hq0mlM"]CLICK ME!![/link] around minute 3 its obivously been steered "up"
