Well, in previous versions of GC, you could update your ships pretty much anywhere. I don't know if the waypoint requirement is intended to be that way, but I suspect it's actually a workaround for now until they smooth out the code that allows both updating ships and UPGRADING ships, especially since many of the upgrades are also parts that can be designed into the base of the ship initially. The module that comes to mind is the Crew Quarters experience upgrade. In the ship design, there's a
Is this intended design, a workaround for something broken, or a glitch allowing you to upgrade when you shouldn’t be able to? I hope not intended design.
Which part? The method of stacking, the method of updating, or the core design issues? Personally, I think they are "intended" but not final. It is still more in beta than anything. And it doesn't allow upgrades when you shouldn't be ab

Yeah, totally thanks for this. It is very clunky and took me a bit to even figure it out. Now, for groups of ships, you CAN take them in as a fleet, then select each one and right-click it on the same spot until they are all out of the fleet and just a stack of ships. Then left-click the spot (slowly) until you go "through" the stack to the "bottom" which should be the rally point. In that window, you can select each ship in the stack and upgrade them one at a time, but

Yeah, I've only really gotten to play today as it is. Work got in the way during the week and I only got a little bit of tie to play around with adding back in my custom race from GC3. I haven't gotten into any battles yet, beyond losing a couple probes to space monsters, so I haven't seen the ranges used. Honestly, I hope they do add in ranges to the weapons if only because it's a simple enough part of reality everyone expects.

Have you stress tested your GPU recently? It could be failing. Not anything anyone wants to hear, but it's a sad reality of computers. Most testing software is free so you might want to look into that and see if there's a physical issue affecting your gaming experience. And before you say other games run fine, also remember that each bit of software out there will run somewhat differently than another. So maybe GC3 runs smooth as silk on your GPU, but isn't hitting the part that's acting up w

Some really good points there, most of which I haven't encountered just yet. My biggest desire right now is the one involving shipyards. In GC3, you could disable the notification about the shipyard being idle if you just didn't want it producing anything. This should be a standard feature in GC4 as well. Instead of continuously manufacturing SOMETHING just to allow you to advance to the next turn, you should be allowed to let it idle if you want. You should be able to advance your turn with

I also tend to use all 3. As it usually stands, there's always someone coming at me with all their defense in only 1 or 2 techs, usually only 1, or 1 on ship type A and another on ship type B. So if my attacks are spread across all 3 areas, I'm guaranteed to be able to snuff them. That was mostly in GC3 and I haven't gotten too many battles in GC4 just yet (only just got the game and work interferes, so more time this weekend). That said, the tech follows a general leve

OK, after going through my files line by line AGAIN, I found it. Always make sure that Internal names match from one file to another. I had my star named in StarDefs as Corealis and in the SystemDefs as CorealisStar. Mismatched Internal names meant the system couldn't be built, logic loop ensues, game crashes.

So, trying to rebuild my custom race from Gal Civ III. Looked at the format for custom planets and such, built the mod directory the way it is in GC4, loaded everything up, looking good so far. Create my race, add my new homeworld, start a new game... crash. Restart, edit my race to any base homeworld, game starts fine. Try to put it back to my custom world/star system. Crash. I'm missing something and would love if someone could look over the files and tell me what stupid thing I have done.

Yes, yes, RNG gods were not with you that day. So... perfectly habitable planet with some lichen and a few bugs maybe. Probably just on the barely habitable side of things. No real mineral wealth, landmasses are meh, and nothing pretty about it. A horribly boring planet that "could have been" something. PRISON WORLD!
