I downloaded a beta today (7.09), I don't suppose that's the one you meant right? Because that one still has the crashes. I kept threatfire running but suspended it, that did not help. I did find one skin that seems OK so far, it has no native windows 7style; the closest is the Vista style option. I will at some point try without threatfire running, but so far I will wait for your workaround in hopes that will solve my problem.

Neil, nice work. Glad it proved relatively easy to reproduce and fix. I am now at another computer, this one running xp, and here I also have threatfire, but as part of the spydoctor package. On xp this has not (yet?) led to crashes. Should I change my Impulse settings to be able to download the beta WB? I am a registered user, so if it's available I will be able to get it right away. Thank you for resolving the issue so quickly.
The crash was right after WB7 had finished wearing the skin. It started with my apps (a.o. mozilla Seamonkey) stopping working. Everything went more or less sequentially until the system was overwhelmed. Yes I am using anti-malware and antivirus. I have Avira 9 for antivirus, and Threatfire from PCTools resident for most other stuff. Also a firewall (zonealarm pro) which also has some limited antivirus capability. Windows 7 is 32 bit. I am using onboard graphics for now, getti
Hi, I've successfully installed windowblinds 7 on my win 7 system and, using one of the Aero metal skins, it works fine, but I thought I'd experiment a little, and trying out several other skins (such as Luna Alt) and using the win 7 style, I got some really spectacular crashes, where everything stopped working (from open apps to system components, too many to mention before everything shuts down). I've gone back to Aero and it's fine, and I suspect that those other skins want more gr
You're welcome! Glad the french tool worked for you. For me, the ASUS utility worked even better, but then my netbook is an eeepc. When I tried windowblinds on it (the first day I had it, since I had planned all along on the wallpaper change possibility) I was very disappointed when it proved unstable - at least, after I installed it I could no longer boot into windows and had to restore to the previous (just out of the box) configuration. Disappointing...
Hello, I have an ASUS 1005HA netbook with windows 7 starter, and have found a way to change the wallpaper from the default it comes with. I thought I'd also like to install fences, which serves quite well on my desktop. When I enabled it, however, it dropped the default wallpaper over the custom wallpaper I had managed to get windows to display - when you show the desktop it actually shows that one first, then the default wall with the fences and icons. Why is this happening? Can it b
There is a way to do this. On the eeeuser forum look for this thread: http://forum.eeeuser.com/viewtopic.php?id=83826 I tried both methods and they both work. The one with the system changer is best but it may be machine specific. I have an asus netbook. My wallpaper cycles. The only problem I have is that Fences overwrites the wallpaper so I can't use it. And when I tried windowblinds it totally crashed my machine.
Hello, On one of my computers where I still run xp, and wb 6, I'm finding the new skins with the round (7) start button visually very pleasing, however the ball appears squashed on my task bar, not at all like in the preview. What can I do to correct this? For instance I am now using a skin called Clear Black, it makes the taskbar transparent, and this works on my xp system, so it does have the necessary capabilities. Help would
It seems my system will not move past the windows is starting up... phase of logging in with any logonscreen active. The biggest problem is trying to boot to the previous good configuration does not help, it results in the same behavior. Is there a way to get rid of logonscreens without actually booting into windows? since I can only get to a repair console. Even safe mode does not work, it also hangs. The only way I have been able to get rid of the problem has been to run setup from the xp c
