This is the primary reason I have no intention of installing Vista on my computer. DRM is the proverbally camel's nose under the tent flap. The media industry, including Microsoft, have proved over and over again that their interests are anti consumer. They can talk all they want about the need to protect their creations from piracy but their actions clearly show that they refuse to embrace modern technology. Users of media content are dema

This is just one more example of the dangerous direction that the country is heading. First, the justification was to fight terrorism. OK. Now we hear that expanded powers are needed to protect our children. Well, it's certainly hard to be against that. But where does this stop? And who is doing the actual deciding as to what is legal and what is not? Are people who criticise the government's foreign policy in the Middle East automatically terrorists?

There actually is a way to COMPLETELY uninstall the program from your computer and then start the 30 day trial period over again. But what would be the point? Are you going to hassle with this every month along with all the other demo programs you might have? Get the package deal for $50 and start having some fun with all the different programs that it comes with. Stardock is a quality name.

Corky O, that machine will be a screamer. What sound card and speakers will you be using? Aimzzz, here are some links you should check out. After reading the first one move over to the different forums and look around. There are always people asking about new builds and there are plenty of experts to give advice. You don't want to make the mistake of buying things that won't work well together or maybe missing a good deal somewhere. And use

I second the ideas about being able to change font size within the windows and being able to recolor only the blind that you are using. And I like the idea of being able to have some sort of "default" button which would take unusable colored window backgrounds and send them to white. I agree with the comments made about how tiring it is to deal with some otherwise very nice skins that make it impossible to read the text. side note: Citizen

Continuing the idea of a curved OD how about one that is a complete circle and could be expanding or contracted? I see a fair number of screenshots where people have arranged their icons in a circle around something so I know there are users who would use something like this if it was possible to create.

I have used AVG on and off for my virus protection for a number of years now. They never seem to get the best ratings when evaluated with others which is why I switch. But I always go back. AVG is fast, it doesn't hog resources like certain other well known names, it never suddenly goes wacko on me for no apparent reason, and it has stopped a number of viruses so I know it is working. I wish them luck on this new program. It's a good company. <img src=

If you are looking for spyware, viruses, and trojans in any of these products all you have to do is download one from some P2P site. The material on this site is 100% free of junk. None of the zip files have corrupted .exe files. There are no fake links to take you to some scam site. No pop ups suddenly start appearing. It is all clean.

Try this. Right click on your desktop, Properties/Appearance/Advanced/Advanced, under Item go down to Window, click in the right hand box for color, click on white, OK, and Apply. This will, hopefully, change the background of all your windows to white.

I have the same question. There must be someone who knows the answer. I have tried looking at the settings with Skin Studio but, like yourself, all the font sizes I find are obviously not related to what is on Windows Explorer. Help? Thanks.

Here's the only thing I can think of and it may not work. With Window Blinds skins you can always find a picture (bmp) of the start button in the folder. Using a picture viewer, Irfan View for example, you can recolor the picture. Save the new picture and it will now become your start button for that particular Window Blind. I have no idea where Windows XP keeps its own images and I would be careful about changing anything without first making a backup

Play with this but don't take it as official. I've only done this once but it did work. Open Icon Packager. Click on View and open Package Builder. It will present you with a generic presentation of all the types of files and icons that are used and their names. Right click on an image and select Change Icon. A new window will open to C:\WINDOWS\system32\shell32.dll which is full of icons. But not yours. Go up to the right corner and click on Browse. S

eVGA has a great reputation of doing their best to take care of their customers. And their willingness to give a lifetime warranty speaks for itself. If you go to their website you can find a link to their forum section. It is quite active. Again, their support of a forum, even when there are posters who are furious at the company, shows a desire to work with people in making sure their experience is the best possible. Compare that to some companies (A

Hey, at least you got an email. I have only once received an email and that one told me that my screenshot had been accepted. All the other times I have just waited to see if they appeared. After a while if nothing shows up I get the hint and try something else.

This is one of the biggest dangers of downloading things from unknown sources. Sooner or later you get nailed. As someone who has downloaded his fair (?) share of music using P2P software I still have to laugh at the idea of getting a virus from the very program that is used to "borrow" other people's property.

I'm a sucker for anything free. After checking out the DAZ site I got the feeling that this is like a drug dealer offering someone their first taste of the product. I never knew this stuff even existed. At least now I know where many of the wallpapers I see come from. The biggest surprise/shock was when I started browsing the other products and came across the "dolls". Is that the right word? It's like a mixture of Barbie for adults, the cl

Hey Prince, I hope you see this post. I found something for you. No, it's not the skin shown in your picture but it is a complete Superman package with WB, Icons, Cursor, Rainlender, SysMetrix, LogOn, and WMP. The WB is nice but the writing detracts. The Icons have to be seen to be believed. Utterly fantastic. The Cursor is fine. I can't make the Rainlender work. The SysMetrix is too small. The LogOn I haven't tested. The WMP is also too small. All in all it is still a pretty nice package and yo

Sir Starkers, you sound like you are from Arkansas. Just kidding. Hey, I'm left handed too. And I can't write at all. Never could. The teachers did a real number on me. Not only do I curve my hand downward but I can't move it across the page so I just mamage a few letters and then everything collapses. Thank goodness for computers now and typewriters in the past.</fo

Sweetasman01, I belong to another forum where its name came up in several searches. Some people on the board did a review of several of these cases to show a number of the places that the AOL members had visited. Like you say, a lot of sex and some of it was pretty kinky. You could begin to do a profile after a while that inlcuded where they lived, their gender, their approximate age group, their income, and quite a few other things. A first read it wa

Darn, I now have wireless envy. 10Mb for $49? I pay $45 for 375KB/s down and 115KB/s up on cable. A good site in the US to check your speed is Link . They also have a strong section that rates most of the providers. It's too bad there isn't more real competition in most of the country.

I am also looking forward to the material on actually creating a skin. One of the first things I always do when buying a piece of software is to browse through the help section or the manual. OK, that's a lie. First I screw around with the program until I realize that I don't really understand it and then I check out the manual. It was a real surprise when
