I've noticed this too, and at first I was kinda pissed about it, but I learned you can use the Civ Manager button to open the manager window, then click on the colonies tab...you can change what each planet builds right from the list. It's on pg 49 in you manual as well.

First: Mars should probably be specialized to either econ or research, personally I go for research. First I build a factory then two research centers, then demolish the factory and build another reseach center. Basicly anything under PQ5 isn't worth building a starport and factories because in the late game you won't be using them except to maybe rush a ship you really need, so in the long run it's not worth it. Second: About your econ.

i wish the start positions were a bit more spread out too. I usually just stick with what I've got, I was playing as Humans in one of my last games where the Drengin were stuck in a corner with the Yor and Altarians right next to them....I was on a large map. Over the course of the game they never even got out of their home system, so after destroying the Drath, Torian, Yor and Altarians the Drengin were a piece of cake. My point is that I'd be nice

Yeah, Overclocking can cause major problems...I have a 3 GHz pentium 4 that's overclocked to 3.6, and sometimes my system gets a bit slow from overheating. I have only ever had a crash when I alt-tab, so I don't what's wrong with your system but I'd like to mention that the reason the third patch will be out at the end of the month is because the guys at Stardock care about us and what we think and most importantly what we want in out game....that's right, OUR game, without us they'd be nothing

I'd say buy some more ram, I don't know how much you have, but ram can play a big part. So rather then you computer getting game info off the hard drive it'll get it from the ram which is faster. It doesn't sound to me like you'd have to do anything with your vid card, but if it's real old then i'd consider that too. I have a gig of ram and it runs fine on all map sizes, so i'd try that first.

Actually only stars that have the correct conditions will supernova, these tend to be ones that are very massive to begin with and that use up much of their hydrogen early in their stellar lives. A neuton star is the left over core from a star that exploded, they are created after all the carbon in the star turnes into iron....the star then gets hotter and hotter untill it reaches a stage call "Photodissociation"....It's all kind of a complicated process. Our sun will never go supernova, as it

I agree, I dislike how the comp players, and me, alwas start grouped together. It is almost like the full number of possible players is always used for map possitions but when you don't use the full number of players it just leaves thoes areas without anyone and bunches the rest of us to no side of the galaxy...I hope that made sense. It is one the only things that bugs me so far, having to go through another empire to get to fresh planets sucks.
