Well, someone did. Practically noone actually knew what the hell they were talking about. Probably the same thing. A few people have issues and blow it out of proportion.

While some scores are better, the one that remains quite low compared to the first is 512k read at 130ish point below. With varying things going on in the background I can understand fluctuating scores, but that one has me wondering. I will investigate later, but right now I have an errand to run [walk, in my case].

If I was going to buy a Windows tablet at this point it'd be the x86 version (not that I currently have the cash, but anyway.) Probably a Z-60 build since it looks like CloverTrail stuff is going to be absolute crap and the Core i5/7 models are too rich for my blood. The ARM version quite frankly isn't ready yet to play with the big boys. I expect it to be upgraded and much better in the space of a year to eighteen months. I can't say I'm surprise
Probably not! The bastards who write that crap aren't going to be bothered with an obsolete OS that will have very few users by then. No, the proliferaters of malware would want to target OSes where they'd get the greatest impact... ie, Win 7 and Win 8
Of course, that's where their efforts will be focused. But it's also where Microsoft's efforts are focused, and they're much harder to bre

I think nerd-rage is about all you can call it. In six months people will have forgotten all about this stupid argument. In Windows XP you press a button, gravy, then go to All Programs, then find your folder, then run the program. Cool. In Vista/7 search was added in since that's so clunky. In the Start Screen it's two clicks once you have it set up...no folders, no searching, no useless uninstall or webpage links cluttering it up. No need for ke
Does anybody here know if Win 8 could be ported to an Android tablet if it has sufficient specs?
I believe some of them are technically capable but MS has a rigid set of hardware specs for RT which may not actually be met. There's currently no known method of installing Windows RT on another box that I've been made aware of.
Thing is, when you're setting up Win 8 it asks for your fave email address, so I'm assuming this could be a G-mail or Yahoo account if you so desired. I could be wrong, but it reads that way.
Yes, it can. You can make an account on passport.net that ties to any email. It's possible Win8 will set it up as such automatically if you're not using a Live email...I wouldn't know.
Absolutely agree. This is the type of conduct which cost MS a pretty penny in a European law suit a few years ago.
There is no lock-in. If you want to use their store and services, you need an account with them. If you don't, you don't. Windows doesn't suddenly shrivel up and die if you don't.

I've been using webmail for over a decade now. I want that data offloaded and backed up, but until I get DSL (supposedly still this month, will believe it when I see it) it's hard to even get the initial download done on Gmail at least. Fortunately, my internets, they are a changin' ;) I hope. Sigh. (As far as other cloud storage, it's still good for pics and music and whatnot. Just nothing private.)
Quoting BernieTime, reply 45@Jafo One inaccuracy I see with that chart is HP Touchpad runs WebOS, not Android. There were also tablets that ran Windows 7, and there are also tablets running Windows RT. Yes, they have a chance, though uptake will be slow given the others have been in the field longer.

The one time auth is only supposed to happen if you purchase something. All that happens on login is they attempt to get you to merge your Impulse and gamestop.com accounts I haven't bought anything from em recently so I can't tell you much about it. I used to buy EA games from em before Origin.

Hey Froggy (and the rest of Stardock) I want to thank you again for the freebie. I felt it entirely unnecessary as I was happy with Elemental after a few major patches, and I've never seen a game company do that that I recall. I appreciate the respect, however...even knowing you might've lost some customers, it's hard for me to imagine anyone doing that. Later, random person on the internet

So much software is so bloated, I need high capacity, and regular hard drives were still more than ten times the bang for the buck than SSD the last time I was in the market for a hard drive ... sucked, but I really needed a lot of capacity, and SSDs were still too expensive for the capacity.
They offer cache ones now that cache the most used files from your HD. <p
