Will beta mess up full game delivery?

To uninstall or not to uninstall

To uninstall or not to uninstall...that is the question. Whether tis nobler in the mind to suffer the sl...errr, sorry.

But seriously, I'm just wondering -- would it be best to uninstall GalCiv2 beta to prepare for online delivery of the full game or will they be two totally separate files systems? I know there have been issues of "upgrading" from one beta version to another, and I want to be sure I start with a clean slate if that is going to be necessary.

Thanks!

I would say depends on if you want to play the beta some more till then...

other than that, I will share my experience with updates. "Flawless Transition"

I don't think you'll have any issues. And it's not for another few weeks, anyway.

The safest route would be to do an uninstall, with the checkbox for removing all save games, etc.. checked. I've had numerous instances during both the beta and gamma tests where an in-place upgrade left lingering weirdness behind.

That said...you can always do an in-place upgrade, hope for the best, and if things are wonky do a reinstall.

Well, given the fact that there will be movies, tutorials and multimedia, it might be wiser to do a complete uninstall to avoid to download 2 times the huges packs.

Or you could just download/archive, install from the hard drive, and avoid the double download.

Your best bet is always to uninstall beta copies before putting down the retail version. This eliminates the possibility of straggling files or assets that might conflict with the retail code in some strange way.

With all the caveats here: I've never had issues I could trace to upgrading versions.
