Question about moons

Hiya, I've got a little question here.

I saw in some screenshots that there are also moons visible in the game. Do these have any function or are they just eye-candy?

Just eye candy.

Hmmm.

I saw a comment by someone that the planets with moons would be more likely to have bonus resources.

Any truth to that?

I thought I read that somewhere on here as well. Besides which, I've gotten the impression that anything on the main galactic map is there for a reason, and not just for show.

I heard that the Dreadlords used to be HUGE. Their bodies were as large as a PLANET! Some Dreadlords were castrated in an ancient RITUAL! The moons were their TESTICLES!

Good grief ProudCanadian, you have to warn a guy when you're gonna post stuff like that! I was drinking pop, and almost spewed it onto my keyboard.

So was that your not-so-subtle way of refuting my earlier comment, and that moons really *are* just there for show?

I'm just spreading rumors. According to the terms of the closed gamma test, I can neither confirm nor deny that the moons in GalCiv 2 are, in fact, gigantic Dreadlord testicles. Very sorry.

LOL. No worries. I didn't realize you even had the gamma build. (I think I read somewhere that not all Diplomats had access to it, so I wouldn't have assumed you did.)

Moons give you a production bonus.

Ah, excellent. Thanks Brad!

Ah great, but still they look nice

I saw a screenshot where it looked like the moon could be inhabitable. (Had oceans, clouds and such) It sure looked nice

Since I only saw screenshots I have another question:

Do the planets and moons rotate in the game? I'm pretty sure they don't rotate around their sun, but I was just wondering about that...

Planets don't rotate around their sun, but moons rotate around their planets. Both spin around their axis.
Moons give +10% on production in the Beta.

Sweet!!

Moons rotating around their planets is a really nice touch. Thanks for the info

be interesting if plaents rotated round the sun though i wonder how that would effect strategy...

A bit difficult to implement, I guess: "Sir, our fleet of battleships got crushed when the planet rotated by at the end of the turn!"...

I dont think they'll be able to program the AI to cope with rotating planets when the game is going gold in about 72 hours. Might be asking a bit too much
