I played my first game last night and had a ctd when clicking one of the tabs along the bottom of the main screen. I have a 3 gig p4 and a radeon 9800, sb audigy. I have had this game since it came out and this is the first time I had a ctd.

If you can't afford to build a starbase your ship parks itself on top of the resource. I had 8 ai constructors queueing up while I saved up the necessary funds. Unfortunately the Arceans had declared war and a fighter showed up and gave me an explosive parking ticket LOL

Loading a saved 1.19 game into 1.2 the build queues were all reorganized and I was building improvements I didn't yet have technologies for.

I appreciate that loading old games isn't recomended but a comment saying this will happen in the faq/readme would be helpful.

The save wierdness happens if the game is created in 1.20.85 saved and reloaded.

I just finished a game and a few things:
1. I had saved earlier and had come back to it, and in the final screens, the races that had been wiped out before I had saved and quit earlier had no scores, no techs, no planets, but somehow had still discovered their techs.
2. No final movie after military conquest.
3. I believe someone attacked my terror star(off screen, but an Altarian ship was headed for it) and I heard the BRAZZAP! and then the computer froze. Not a CTD, but complete freeze. CTL-ALT-DEL didn't even work, had to manual shut down.
4. Reload from save took FOREVER! Got stuck at 7% for at least a minute, then went to 100% in one second. Never seen that before, kinda wierd.
5. Other than that freeze, no CTD though. Better than 1.19.
6. Logistics wonder doesn't do nearly enough. So I paid a little less. I think I only paid 20% less BTW. I think a calaculation is wrong somewhere. Needs another wonder, eliminate the early one, make one at like TerraComputers, and another at each of the good and bad techs. Give advantages to each. Makes it more even and interesting.
Just giving my feedback. Enjoyed it overall!
Thanks for enduring this.

Save games take a LOT longer than they used to. I dont know if this is a side effect of the new save format (single file instead of directory). However, in 1.13, the save games took on average about a second before it came back to the options screen. In 1.2, the save game takes on the order of 5-10 seconds

Unable to send results of the last two completed games to server. Any suggestions? This in both Version 1.9 and 1.2.

I just upgraded to 1.2, and now I can't run the game past the opening dialogs. When starting a brand new game, I get past the opening dialogs to the point where the movie cutscene usually shows the robots working (?)... at this point the screen clears to black, I can see a big white cursor on the screen, but the entire computer is frozen. Not CTD, but locked up so tight a CTL-ALT-DEL won't even break out of it. Worked fine at 1.13 just yesterday. Ouch. Is there a way to restore back to 1.13? I know I can re-install the game from scratch, but how do I update JUST to v1.13???????????????

Starbases:

In 1.19, the enemy will sometimes build two starbases right next to each other. One on a resource, and one next to it. This seems to be a bug as they are from the same empire. Not sure if this holds in 1.2.

Playing a version 1.2 Galciv game currently. My morality is down to 0 but I can't research Xeno-intimidation, or any other evil techs, this is somewhat annoying.

Oops, my mistake, I did not have all the correct prerequisites, so you can forget about my previous message.

The two starbase bug is still there. On a normal difficulty game the Torians built two bases around a single economy resource.

A new CTD bug involves "on screen" destruction of mini-freighters. I am not completely sure what triggers the faulty mini-freighter, but once the freighter becomes bugged, clicking on it will freeze the game, or when an enemy attacks that freighter, the game crashes.

A new bug in the foreign policy section: when speaking to a major race and click on the left most tab below their image, if they are in an alliance they will list themselves as being allied.

For example: The Torians listed: allied with Torian Federation in their own relations screen.

Updated to 1.2 and now I can't get any music, sound effects ok. Guess I'll listen to Billy Joel in space.

When I tried to reload my game from a file "New Save Game" I found it hadn't been saved and an old game loaded in instead. Similarly "Autosave" had not been updated with my latest games data either. I had to give the save game a unique name to get it to save and reload properly.

It's been around for quite a while, actually. Is the offending mini-freighter bright pink?

Sounds like you're upgrading from 1.13. When loading a game from 1.13, upon loading it the first time, delete all saved games and the re-save it. I think the game has problems because 1.2 saves games differently than 1.13.

I believe the resource starbases not obeying the 3 parsec rule is intended, unless I missed them saying otherwise.

i have a funny feeling that all the 'circular' anomolies were the same - ie a boost to morale. also my survey ship stopped auto-surveying next to an anomoly....

i'll check when i play another game......

The mini-freighter belonged to the minor empire Carnivod, and it was attacked by either the Drens or the Arans (both of them attacking the minor at the time).
