Bump

C'mon. There must be someone out there who's had this same problem. I've checked for all the latest drivers, etc. This is ruining the game for me. Any help? Anyone?

Sorry, I cannot help. I play the game with the sound off, as I play in a room with a lot of other activity going on.

I am having the same problem. Very bad sound since I updated to 1.19 :sniff!:

Again, we can't have been the only ones who have experienced this. Is there some obvious fix we're missing? All other sound functions are working, and it is somewhere in 1.19. :SURPRISED:

CariElf you are one of a kind!
The mp3 file was the answer! :D
Can't thank you enough :CONGRAT:

Whoops, spoke too soon. (:(
I thought the mp3 file had fixed the problem but I tried again this morning and the fuzz is back!
The sound has a fuzzy quality as soon as the program moves from the intro menu (the 1st window). Once you hit "play game" and it starts to load, the fuzz starts. As soon as the "Strategy First" graphics start the fuzzy sound starts. :sniff!:
This has to be associated with Ver.1.19. I've never had this problem before.

Cari: I have re-installed GalCiv and updated to 1.2, the sound problem is gone. Is there anything I need to do with my Metaverse account since I re-installed?

Why would there be a problem? As long as you have reinstalled Galciv with the same serial id and are using the right player name and e-mail, I don't think there could be a problem.

I also have been having a sound issue with the game since I updated to 1.19. The sound is garbled whenever I hit the turn button, then clears up while I make my moves and then is garbled again as soon as I hit the turn button. Seems like maybe some interference when the computer is making its moves....don't know if this is theh same thing you have been experiencing but it could be.

Yeah, sometimes people just start having problems with the sound when they upgrade from a version and installing a clean copy sometimes just clears it up.

plephart: have you tried the things I suggested earlier?

I turned off my hardware sound acceleration level and it fixed it for me. (not sure what sound acceleration really does anyway).

p.s. I got did it from running DXDIAG, which lets you mess around with direct x settings.

I ran into the same "fuzzy" sound problem with 1.19 and 1.2. I reinstalled 1.2 and "fuzzy" sound problem is gone....now I get NO music but I do get the sound effects. Tried installing the mpscodex file but that didn't help. Any other suggestions?

Check to make sure that your music is turned on and that User Defined Playlist is turned off.
