Aldarian Empire Thread

The plans are complete. The Republic is no more, long live the Aldarian Empire :CONGRAT: :CONGRAT: :CONGRAT:

Aldarians are known throughout the universe for their quirky sense of humor and unpredictability. The Empire motto is Last Kid Picked. Another Aldarian tendency is to celebrate with gusto. The Aldarian Calendar is chock full of 'official' holidays that are typically celebrated by 'drinking heavily and behaving badly' (also known as DHABB). Aldarians in the midst of DHABB and wearing odd hats should be avoided.

Having said that, in order to celebrate our new form of government properly, the following 'holidays' have been added:

December 31 – Empire’s Eve. Wearing odd hats, kissing total strangers, drinking heavily, and behaving very badly are the hallmarks of this holiday.

January 1 – Empire Day. A day of rest and recovery (see Empire’s Eve) to celebrate the date the Aldarians tossed aside the Republic as a form of government and became the Aldarian Empire.

OMG they've made an acronym out of it!
End of quote

Trust a republic to come up with acronyms to cover EVERYTHING. Yet another reason for switching to absolute dictatorial rule (ahem) a more efficient form of government.

100K in Metaverse points gets you a seat in the Aldarian Senate.

In sight of the top ten! With GROSS and the Evil Empire pretty much static in scoring right now, Aldar could make it to the top ten-- another overlord would be helpful, of course... That would certainly be an occasion to celebrate in the usual Aldarian way.

Nice job everyone. We made up some serious ground on the Evil Empire over the weekend.

Yes, I agree with that - two is certainly better than the none I manage :)

I had a very enjoyable Empire's Eve which was spent behaving so badly, only now a week later am I able to return home LOL

I hope to be closing out a gigantic on Challenging this week.

Question: It's me, the Altarians and Torians left and I could get an alliance victory right now. I'm gobbling up their planets with culture but it will take a little more time. Which one scores better?

Highest scoring victory conditions:

Top: Military
2nd: Alliance
3rd: Cultural
Last: Tech

Military will score better - but in the past I have just gone for the Alliance victory because I have the patience of a boiling teapot (plus I like the fireworks in the Alliance victory movie :) ).

I usually go for military victory just for the points, though I may not play that way during the game.

My last game I decided to see if I could win a cultural victory without using cultural starbases! Found that it was a challenge, but that you can do it if you get all the cultural resources, build all the related wonders, and colonize some low PQ planets next to alien territory! Then I declared war on the Drengin just as their last planet seceded so it was technically a military victory.

My current game is looking like it is not going to be a win. Playing Gigantic maso and the only aliens that like me are the Torians. Everyone else is Cool or Wary. The Torians are my closest neighbor (I'm in the upper left corner) and have made a pretty good buffer, but they are about to be overrun by the Arceans. I'm currently switching my trade route from the Torians to the Arceans (who have the strongest military) in an attempt to improve relations. The problem is most of my economy is going towards paying off war bribes, so there are going to be some lean months until the new (but longer) trade routes get up to speed.

Our friends the Aldarians are moving up in the world. Good show. We always knew you had it in you. :) The evil ones have lost heart, or many of them have. Just give them a good growl, or burp perhaps in your case, and then trot past them without too much of a fight. :)

Good luck! :CONGRAT:

Game update: Played a couple of hours last night. The Torians finally were overwelmed and gave me 5 planets. Now the Arceans are directing their full hatred towards me. They have created an Alliance with the Altarians. I'm running out of planets to give them...

So how much do you use influence starbases? Do you have the option of building a bunch of party palaces to just flip a number of Arcean worlds over to you? Cheesy, but effective. Then you can flip a set of worlds, and even give one back to them, knowing full well that it will just flip over to you again anyway...
