Here's another oddity. My last game I went pure neutral except for one 1-point "good" choice. So probably a dozen neutral choices and an ending alignment of 51. It registers as chaotic good. What gives?

If you want me to leave the empire I'll understand.. I have once again seem to have caused trouble.. I wasn't picking on any player.. I was simply talking about an empire.. but ppl think that i'm picking on a single player still..

If you get any flack from the metaverse about me.. please feel free to kick me out.. I don't want to bring another empire to its knees or cause trouble.. I'll understand and accept your decission what ever it may be.. just like i respected special forces decision for not wanting me in their ranks

I completed a small Painful. Did not make a very high score, but that was the interesting part. I was crusing along starting a military build up and the game went to Allied Victory. LOL

Kind of funny, but interesting.

I will just post it on the bug list and see what happened.

It was difficult and I am really hating the UP. They keep making me pay and provide techs when I am in the lead. Guess I will have to try with out them once.

Yep. Been that way since I started here. I submitted a game just like yours and saw Chaotic Good. I also submitted one at like 87 and also got Chaotic Good. I think you have to be rated over 90 to get Pure Good, and AT 50 to get Neutral. Kind of explains why there are so many Chaotic Good results across the Metaverse.

There are a lot of things about the Metaverse that don't exactly make sense to me, but complaining about them only seems to get people riled up. :notsure:


Scotty bought in a game? Yeah, could be random. Or... could be obscure reasons. If not random, sure would be useful to know what the deciding factors are!

Some time ago, an Emperor spent long hours playing Galciv, trying his best to contribute to an empire that he had painstakingly built. Then two members of his empire decided to defect. In a fit of emotion, he disbanded his empire.

Sounds familiar? Yup, that Emperor was me. I have been there, brother and I can empathise with some of your feelings.

What drew me back was the friendship on this forum. I figured out that I had allowed myself to be too emotionally involved with rankings and score and missed out on the big picture, which is to enjoy the friendship with people that I would never had the chance to know without this forum.

However, I disagree strongly that anyone could use his personality as an excuse to be unnecessarily blunt or hurtful to another member of this forum. Yes, I do accept that we sometimes write things that we regret later. That’s what the edit function is for and if it is too late to edit, I believe an apology is in order.

Ask yourself the reason behind your participation in this community, Smeagol and let that guide you as to what you should do.

The Fellowship’s doors are always open to anyone who shares the empire’s vision of contributing to the game and forum. Our hands of friendship are extended to you.

My final advice to you, quit feeling sorry about what is in the past and have fun.

i just want to reiterate that there is no bad blood between the ANZACs and yourself. none. period. if you ever chose to return, you would be welcomed.

Ray said most of what I would have said. The one thing I'd like to add is that, while you take the Metaverse pretty seriously, you should try not to fault others for not seeing things the same way. It doesn't make them dishonorable or disloyal, it just means they play Galciv for different reasons than you do.



Heh, I'm going to guess that you only try it once. Playing without trade is quite hard.

Sirian, the alignments didn't work that way in previous patches. This is new in 1.11. I'll go post about it in the bug thread.



Indeed. It's the one aspect of the game where Stardock has been really unresponsive to opinion on the board.

I don't think the alignment thing is new. I've got 51 alignment before on 1.091 and it turned out Chaotic Good. I think you need 50 exactly to be Neutral.

I seem to remember getting some non-50 neutrals. Can't go back and test unfortunately.

Both the 51 and 87 "chaotic good" were on 1.10.073. I haven't had games in that range since, until tonight when I posted a 52. I have several Neutrals (even on the Top 25 Neutral board with only a few games) and all have been AT 50. One was memorable, too, since at one point I had all five AI's at Friendly or better.

Gosh, there is way too much good action in this thread. I've spent more time here this week than in my own Empire's thread. LOL

You remind me of Staffa, one of our Metaverse legends. Like you, he had strong opinions on the game mechanics and the Metaverse.

Same thing here. Did that one game by allowing one good event and one evil event with the rest all neutral. Even though the end alignment was 41 (good event raised align to 51, worm killing later dropped it to 41), the result was Neutral. Maybe there has to be balance in the Force, within reason, of course. (As in the points in the events can be disproportional, but not surpass the normal alignement change lines in-game at 30 and 70 - so long as the evil/good ratio is maintained.) The problem is that it happened so long ago in another version that it may no longer be relevant. This might be a good theory to test in the next game of mine.

I am confused. When the game went to allied victory, what was going on? Did you have allies or a victory?

Did you have the allied victory condition on? Is that where the bug is?

I always play with the allied victory condition off but then I always try to ally so I don't get beat up. Recently I had all 5 major AI and all 4 minor AI allied but since the allied victory condition was off, I was able to play for a military victory. So, I think if you turn off the allied victory condition, then you don't have to worry about it. You can still ally even though alliance victory box is unchecked.

If you have questions about the metaverse, this thread is a safe place to ask. Ray and vincible are the experts and won't bite.

The metaverse recently dubbed the "masoverse" by some is many different things to different people. To me, the front page or two or top 100 is kind of an honor roll of dedicated (obsessed? :D) players but won't tell you who is "the best". That's especially true since there is a 60k cap that even I can hit on the latest version. So, if I had enough time (or was obsessed enough) and loved gigantic maps, I could score more than Ray but that wouldn't prove very much about my actual gaming skill. Plus some of us (or our computers) struggle with gigantic map size because it is way big. Many take the metaverse too seriously. Rankings come and go, but the admiral ranks are kind of cool, and the intial medals are a nice hook. My advice to others is just have fun and the points will add up as you go.

Hello, everyone! Well, my sickness continues but I went to the doctor and now have good drugs! I did manage to get a couple of hours of playing in last night. I'm almost through my Large/Maso and it's going very well. I control all of the Influence resources, so it's just a matter of time. Of course, my little fleet of Combat Transports stands at the ready to invade when I've flipped most of the enemy. :SINISTERGRIN:

Smeagol O: You won't be kicked out of the Fellowship, at least by me. I only suggest that you don't take the Metaverse so personally. Relax and enjoy the game!

Celeborne: I haven't had a problem with the UP after I learned a very valuable lesson. When you trade techs with the AI, top off the deal with influence points. Every time...all the time. Those influence points are essential! Once you can outvote the AIs, the UP actually can work in your favor!

I think the shipments of alcohol and food have begun already!

Thinking back, I remember one time I was trying to go pure good, and never got enough events to get past neutral. I'm sure I wasn't at 50 in that game. So in 1.05 at least, you weren't required to have morality 50.

I think I'll try to get a pure neutral in my next game.
