anyone know the % chance of an event happening during colonization?

anyone know what the value is around? i know its random, however, the randomness makes it pretty hard to guess the chance of it happening.

in the game im playing right now, i colonized something like 15 planets so far, and i only got one event. i remember the game i played before this one, i was getting an event on about half of the colonizations i was doing.

Hi Northwest Smith, was wondering what happened to you. Good to see you posting.

21.080233319 % ? Is that a stat ? I just can't see a coder bothering with such fine tuning ;)

Well, unless he was not in his normal state at the time :CONGRAT:

Haven't seen you around the forum, Tacticus.

Welcome and seems like you are trying your hand at Crippling already for your second game. :)

Yes, I got the game one week ago... I managed to win at crippling, with a fabulous starting position, extra big cluster with about 25% of the stars in the galaxy and all mine, at least 4 empty sectors in all directions around :D but even then the Yor and the Arceans each managed a toehold... Oh, and the Drengin were stuck all alone in a 3 stars cluster in one corner and never bothered anyone :D

(this was a huge / abondant / tight cluster game, for those that wonder)

I am now trying to crack masochist, but so far no luck, on my best try so far in a tiny game I managed to ally with the top dog, only to see him brought down by all the others as he rushed to my help whenever they attacked me. I thought I had some nice military bonuses until I saw the Thorian ships, who made my militaristic +50 hp / 50% weapon +10 h pick / military resource starbase augmented ships look like old junk, even before they started throwing dreadnought at my corvettes :sniff!:

At Crippling, the AI gets +1 range amidst other bonuses so 4 sectors are within range of its colony ships right from the start.

You are brave to attempt the hardest level on your third game. Good luck! Do check out the Maso Strat thread in the Strat forum.

ps. If you are keen to be part of an empire, do consider the Fellowship. We have a number of players who also play at Maso.

Hey Ray. Still hanging around, although not too much time/energy to play GalCiv these days.

Tacticus, the number I gave was a pure invention of my mind :d

Good to know you are still about, NW.

Noticed you regained your free agent status, any interest to join my team? :)

Hairy

I think getting one event in 15 planet colonizations is not unusual. On my tiny games, I often don't get an event with colonization. It is later in the game when running through tech tree and social tree that those random events pop up (the meteors, the plague, and those blasting cyborgs, etc.) that I get my events that propel me toward good. It is easier to go evil. Those darn interacting with pirates screens and others rarely get anyone one goodie point but might easily net 10 baddie points. Oh well it is good the techs are different to make it fun to play both. Have fun. :)
