Problem installing start11

Cannt install Start11 2.72 on HP Tablet

Dear Stardock Support

I have Start11 2.72 (licensed) installed successfully on my desktop PC but cannot install it on my HP Elite 2 G8 tablet. Microsoft Debug manager pops up (see photo).  I've never seen this before when installing any software.

Both machines are running 25H2 (OS Build 26200.8524) and both have MDM installed.     I tried end Task from Task Manager but this didn't help. Can you please advise?

Regards

Hi Trevor,

Thanks for providing these details.  It seems the Windows build listed, 25H2 OS Build 26200.8524, could be a Windows Insider / preview build.  Can you confirm whether the HP tablet is enrolled in the Windows Insider program?  (Should say in Settings -> Windows Update -> Windows Insider Program).

Please know that we do not provide official support for beta, preview, developer, or Insider builds of Windows.  That would be the first thing I would want to rule out.  For reference: https://support.stardock.com/space/SHC/1261010948

For further insight, I can tell you the Microsoft Debug Manager prompt usually means something in the installer process crashed and Windows is offering to debug it.  It is not normally the cause by itself.

You can:

1. Check the exact Start11 installer file version you are running (right click Start11v2_Setup.exe -> Properties -> Details tab).  I would expect it's the same file version that worked on your Desktop.

2. On your tablet, you can also check Event Viewer under Windows Logs -> Application for any error at the same time the install fails. The faulting application details from that event could help to narrow down the cause.

That's a weird conflict, especially since it works fine on your desktop with the exact same OS build

Hopefully support can patch this for tablets

Hi  Adam

No, my tablet is running the normal stable public release of 25H2 and the same Start11 installer version is used. I do have a third machine running the latest Insider Preview build and Start11 installed on that with no issue.
