1.70.495224 Orbital Prison still not working

This really needs to be fixed ASAP.  Crime is out of control without it.

I did notice the following mention in 1.70 Change Log

  • Orbital Prison now properly reduces crime on planet its built on.

However that is not what Orbital Prison says.  The description says that an Orbital Prison is a place to  send "ALL" your worlds criminals.  That's exactly how it used to work and IMHO that's what it should do.  Orbital improvement slots are too valuable to have to use one on every core planet.  Using a colony slot to built an Orbital prison is the way to go.

You could restrict the benefit to the system it's built in and I could live with that as still beneficial.

The second pick in the Pacifist culture "Charity" eliminates all that crime. 

But you are right that the Prison needs to be fixed. Last week.

Once again, Crime is ruining the game.  Please, please, put the Orbital Prison back to being useful.  Game mechanics that run amok are not enjoyable.

Charity only eliminates 10% crime so it really won't help when my Homeworld generates 3 and every colony attached to it generates another 3.

All your colonies on that planet would be 0 but how did you get a colony to have more than 3% to begin with?

I have no idea.  The Crime mechanic is broken again IMHO.  It was working okay after they fixed it the last time I complained, but it's just as bad now.

If it were not for that crime based Civ I would say remove crime altogether.

On second thought I say remove that Civ or change them to a freebooter Civ that can make life hell for everyone and must make life hell for everyone but not required to declare war to raid other Civs.

Perso, I bee line for Security Lights and Colonial Laws to get rid of crime when it gets out of hand. I used to use the precursor orbital prison you got from Ship anomalies, but alas these kinds of anomalies are so rare now that its no longer an option. Maybe a compromise would be to have the orbital prison reduce crime on all worlds/colonies by 2% or some other value ? So you'd still have to build at least 5 of them to get the full impact. Else it would be trivial to get rid of crime with only one prison right at the start of the game.

Plus, considering that we'll be able to remove and replace orbital in the future, you should be able to replace the prison once you've researched the proper tech that reduce crime.

That's great that replacing orbital improvements is an upcoming feature. Is there a roadmap or a board for these upcoming changes somewhere?

Hehe, nope! We just get some info here and there on Discord from time to time. No Eta on this one but it's coming. From past experience, if interface work is needed, it will take longer to get into the game.

From that screenshot, it looks like colony world crime is additive, thereby crippling the core world. Shouldn't it be an average instead?

I'd say that this design makes sense to be honest.  I think the whole point of core worlds is to break up your empire into more manageable bites.  I don't think I've ever had a game with that many colonies feeding one core world and I don't think having to build orbital prisons on a few of those colonies to make this work is a big problem.

I personally don't see a problem here.  Space out your core worlds better or pay the minor price of needing more orbital prisons.
