Dialogue options provided are for the race I'm talking to, not for me

The below might depict a bug.  I'm playing as an AlienGPT-created faction, the "Cosmic Ascendents" -- but I just invented the Universal Translator, allowing me to talk to this other AlienGPT-created faction, and the dialogue options from which I can select are clearly for them, not for me (unless AlienGPT has decided that because I described my King In Yellow-inspired race as obsessed with metafiction, it would be amusing to allow them to speak to other races with the dialogue-options of the other races...which would be clever and surreal...but this still might be a bug.  Or maybe I've seen the Yellow Sign.
