Being a founder member for Gal Civ III I purchased Gal Civ IV as soon as It was released on EG and love playing and designing new ships but so far i have found that there are a number off ship parts from GC III that are missing also some that show in the designer that can not be used...I have also purchased Supernova and this brings me to a worrying discovery in both games that the ship designer is missing the ability to design Starbase's my question here is that an oversight  or am I missing some thing, I had designed a number Starbase's and posted them for other player's to use...so please Frogboy can you answer my questions.

Yes the pace of progress in generative AI is hard to keep up with at the moment. Exciting times. 

I'm impressed how quickly and in how many ways your already looking to incorporate it. 

90 minutes would indeed beat bit long to wait.

Absolutely loving what I'm hearing about AlienGPT ... 

Will AlienGPT be used to improve the dialogue of other existing races?  

In the future perhaps a negotiation could be more of an open dialogue which would make negotiating more complex and interesting.

 

What really attracts me to space-based games is:

- Lore

- Sense of discovery and wonder

- Random events

- Interacting to aliens

How much detail can we feed the AlienGPT?

I have an eight sentence, 120 word description in mind. How much of that can be picked up by the AlienGPT?

If I fill in my own Civ description, as in the past, for a more exact history/scenario for what I have in mind, can the AI go off of that to build experiences throughout the game?  Or are the experiences built solely on what the AlienGPT generates in the description?

I'm fairly certain what the answers to these queries are, I'm just fleshing out some ideas on the current and possible future capabilities of this exciting new technology you are implementing.

I am not so much concerned with the image generation as I am with in-game experiences. That being said I do understand the issues involved with using GPT in writing content over human writers.

I guess the ultimate question is, how deep into GPT content do we go and how much will it cost in terms of money as well as human capital.

But whats about the citiziens portraits? generate to or use humans as citizien?



Since the citizens are actually code with pictures, that's a bit of a different thing.  We'll probably look at having the art for those generate eventually and have the behaviors (bonuses) be human since they're the safest.

 

Could we ever pick our own bonuses/namelists in the future?  I know there's mod tools that already let you do that but i mean ingame to make it workshop friendly
