Ive done a bunch of surveys all of my current galaxy yet no progress on the orb.

I've had a few times where I had to search every anomaly in the galaxy. I  eventually made progress and found it. It does beg the question if there were no anomalies left - how could you complete the challenge? I usually launch this challenge early in the game to ensure there are plenty of anomalies.
