Grid Display In .77a

I selected the option to display the grid, but as you can see in the first screen snapshot below, the grid is only visible near the top of the screen and is not visible in the majority of the screen.  If I zoom out far enough, the grid suddenly becomes visible as shown in the second screen snapshot below.  It was not like this in .77.  Was this an intentional change in .77a or is this just a whoopsie?  As a player, if I choose to see the grid, I want to see the grid all of the time regardless of how zoomed-in or out I am.

From what was said in the Discord, it was intentional. They're trying it out. Brad gave a solution to revert the behaviour. Just go in \Epic Games\GCIVTestEdition\Data\Core folder and open GraphicsDefs.xml. Then swap the numbers of these two lines so they look like this:

    <StrategicIconDistanceThresholdLow>4500</StrategicIconDistanceThresholdLow>
    <StrategicIconDistanceThresholdHigh>3500</StrategicIconDistanceThresholdHigh>

This should make it work as before. Hope this helps.

That was my first impression as well. But it changed after a short time.

I activate Draw Grid and Tilt Camera on Zoom.

It works very well for me. This is because the grid is shown very early (together with icons). And close zoom looks better without grid.

But this is a personal feeling though.

Thanks for reposting the fix.  I prefer a grid on my close-in cameras as well.

I like it this way as well

I prefer the grid 100% of the time, with hexes being white instead of gray, and no cosmetic clouds overlaying the map. Would like a way to make the Icons visible at max zoom out and in say a slider where 0 is 100% graphic and 100 was 100% icon or vice versa. Same for the overlay clouds to me any cosmetic graphics should be optional.

Glad to see there are many others that want their grid also.

Give us back our grid! (without having to do some sort of manual file manipulation fix)

Yes, please give us the grid back. I like having a precise understanding where I am in relation to other objects ( i.e. pirates, space monsters) while I am zoomed in.
