I got 13 hours into a new game and ran into the problem that every time I attempt to save the game, the game crashes. Autosave was already set to every turn, and I posted a link to the most recent autosave. I have been trying to save it under a name, so that I can make a tutorial demonstrating things that I might not want to save and then continue my game. If I click next turn on a previous save, I loose my progress since autosave is all that works now.
The updates in V0.55 are great. But there seems to be many bugs. Ironically all the new features work fine. But I am having problems with really basic functionality such as next turn and save game. V0.50 never crashed once. I see great potential for GalCiv4. I realize it is still in Alpha and the bugs will probably be fixed by official release. However since the game is in a public paid alpha its reputation can still be at stake. I have not been able to complete a single game in V0.55 due to technical problems. I will never bad mouth GalCiv but these problems are giving ammunition to competitors. Stardock has paid testers. I request that v0.60 get tested harder for core functionality before release. I really do want new features but not at the expense of core functionality. If the development team needs more time, I can wait. Quality over development speed seems to be a formula for the most popular games in history.
