Give Us A Setting To Hide/Unhide Colony Nameplates

If at all possible, please give us a toggle setting in the Interface tab of the Options screen that allows hiding of Colony nameplates.

I would like to have a map where only Core World nameplates are present, as Colony world nameplates only really serve to obscure the map.  The nameplates don't give me any additional info but the name of the planet and that's not really relevant to me, since I really don't need to know the name of the planet I'm strip-mining and unsustainably farming to feed my swarm of space locusts growing human civilization.

I second this.

I complained about this a couple of weeks ago, for a slightly different reason. When you do a eject all (or some) ships from a Core or Colony World, the default/normal direction is to the North West of the World, which puts the Fleet (or one) of ships right under the Name Banner for the World, where it is hard for you see it and click on it to give orders to the newly ejected fleet/ship.

At times it can also be hard to see and click on things like Star Bases if they are in the wrong place relative to the World Name Banner, i.e. they are underneath the Name Banner of a Core/Colony World.

Would you prefer it if the nameplates conveyed additional information?

I would think he wants less stuff on the screen.

I'd prefer a less-cluttered screen so that I can see my Core Worlds more easily.  If the Core World nameplates had outputs on them, I would definitely not be displeased about that, though.

Only as a mouse over.

Just the faction icon, no name on the map.

You can already "zoom" to the planet from the Planet list.

The planet list needs a "class" option so it's easier to find the 1% of good (can terraform) planets from the 99% that are trash (can not terraform)  or worse. An option to hide non colonizable (Class0) planets in setup wouldn't break my heart either. For me they just clutter the map and have absolutely no game play value.

Maybe additional information when we held the mouse tooltip over it, but that is how it already works.

I think that we are complaining about how much the nameplates can hide on the Game Map. In my case I am complaining about fleets/ships and Star Bases being hidden underneath the nameplates or banners (or whatever name you want to call them), so it is hard to click on them, or hard to even know that they are there. Which is the problem when we eject ships from a World, they end up hidden underneath the name plate/banner. Please make the default direction for ejection so that are not underneath the World's name plate/banner.

What we probably need is an easy way to turn off and on the nameplates and see what is being hidden by them.

One thing that I want is an easy way to step between members of a group of objects while on the main Map, e.g. I want to step between my Cores Worlds or Colonies, or Star Bases, or shipyards, while I am on the main Map screen to see what is going on around them, i.e. I would want both a forward and backward command to step between the objects of a particular type while looking at the main Game Map.

At the moment we can only do this when we are on the screen for individual Worlds or Shipyards or Star Bases, which is useful and needed, but we also need to be able to see what is at/going on at them on the main Game Map while we are stepping through the members of a particular group of game objects or entities.

If you go to the info block in the upper right, you can set planets to alphabetical order (up down arrow) and click on a planet it will zoom you to that planet. Same with SB/SY and even ships.

I know that I can do it that way, I am looking for something easier to use when I want to step through many of the members in the list of a type of object. Using your way is ok (and I do use that way) when I want to look at one or a few members of the list.

I would also like an easy way to change which Sector that I am currently looking at. This becomes important when you have many ships exploring/surveying in several or many sectors, and is even more needed when you have many Star Bases, Core Worlds, Colonies, and lots of Asteroid Mines in many Sectors.

I am looking for something like pressing f2 (or right arrow key) to advance and f3 (or left arrow key) to go backwards in the list. We can do this when we are on a Core World, Star Base, or Shipyard Screen using the the left or right arrow keys. I want to be able to do the same thing when I am on the main Game Map to iterate through the various members of a list and see them on the Game Map, perhaps with a small window that shows the relevant data of each object as I step through the list.

Being able to see them on the main Game Map while stepping through many objects in a list is important when you are trying to do an overview of the class of objects to find the ones that you might need to make changes to. Then if you need to make a change you can click on it to get to the detailed screen for that object, where you can make those changes. Possibly, since we (or many of us) are using Screens with many pixels like high Def TVs (with around 2k in the verticle dimension to 4k in the horizontal dimension), we could be using a sub (or smaller size) window that only covers part of the screen instead of the whole screen, for interacting with a particular object. With that small window being shown on top of the main Game Map while we are looking at the main Game Map (screen)

The nameplates get in the way and cover up other planets - there definitely needs to be a toggle

Yeah, I normally hate gameplay options (as we then have to support both ways) but I think this is a good call.
