Epic Games is owned by Chinese company Tencent. Tencent has strong ties to the Chinese government. With all the human abuses that the Chinese government is committing (very much including the silent holocaust of the Muslims and other non-state-sponsored religions) I cannot in good conscience give any of my money to a platform with ties such as this.
This is not a whim or some SJW fluff.
Two years ago I deleted my Blizzard account (which they made difficult to do, BTW) after Activision took China's side on the Taiwan/PRC issue.
Steam is wholly owned by Americans and cares only for making money for Americans and making good gaming experiences.
When I opened the email this morning, I was ready to drop $50 dollars to become a GalCiv 4 founder, as I did when GalCiv 3 released so long ago. But with the Epic Store, nope.
