DeskScapes 10 Release Version

DeskScapes 10 Release Version

Can't!

Guys, support, I simply just can't run the new DS 10.  My main monitor blurs every time I change a WB skin  primary screen only, the other 2 stay fine.   If I'm not running a Dream, all 3 screens go black when loading a WB.  None of this happened before going to the DS beta 3, then the relese.

Honestly, I dunno if it's DS or WB.

It looks like DisplayFusion has a setting under wallpaper settings to "Autofix wallpaper images when wallpaper feature is enabled".  This is what is making it change the wallpaper all on its own.  With this disabled you get a prompt from DisplayFusion warning you something else has changed the wallpaper and to click it if you wish to change it back.

DeskScapes is designed to be cooperative with other ways of changing wallpaper (it is just a wallpaper after all), so if you change your wallpaper via any other method it will disable itself and let you have that wallpaper.

There may be an issue with a black paint though when DeskScapes is disabled which we are investigating.

I have DisplayFusion. It has been disabled since DeskScapes 10 beta 1, on Stardock's request/suggestion.

Are you 100% sure that setting is disabled (it is hidden away) as enabling it produces the exact symptoms as you are reporting.

After things turn black, what does it say for the WallPaper key at this registry location : HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop

Not certain if the setting is disabled, but DisplayFusion as a whole is supposedly disabled.  I'll just uninstall it, easy enough to install again if I decide to drop DeskScapes.

Ok, uninstalled DisplayFusion, rebooted.  Main screen goes black after applying a windowblind.  Secondaries running a dream.

RND, Neil wanted Deskscape.dll (singular) not Deskscapes.dll (plural).

And below is SHA 256.

Sorry, I thought Neil's was a typo.  lol

I get confused between Deskscape.dll and deskcapes.dll myself.  In hindsight I would have named them a little differently!

Quoting Neil Banfield,

Quoting S J N,

OK. I installed ds 10 over beta3. Wrong. Uninstall DS b3. Run purge. Deleted all references to DS. Rebooted.

Installed DS 10. Rebooted. OK. I did however deactivated DS as a service. Now the only thing wrong is after rebooting is when I right click on desktop I get a blank white screen. Then I go to MY wallpapers and set as Background.

Guess I'll have to live with this. DS8 never gave me a Blank white or black desktop

Why did you deactivate DS as a service?  It MUST be set to enabled.  Otherwise DeskScapes will only load on a right click and if you have Fences may well cause the two to get upset with each other.

I can click on the context menu, & the start menu icon and DS starts without the service

End of S's quote

I re enabled service. Now when boot or reboot my screen comes up white. Also, when I disable DS the screen is white again.

We may have found an issue we believed was already resolved.

That said, if you apply a dream, then do a skin apply with WB, likely get a black screen, can you use DS to apply to each monitor individually:

Yes, If I open DS config, click apply to monitor 2, it resumes as normal.  The 2 secondaries were already fine.

So, I continue to do this until the next release?

Well, thats is at least a temp work around.  It will get fixed fixed soon, however.  It already was at one point, I tested it and it worked.  Just not sure how it got unfixed.

Thank you for your help.

That's funny right there...lol!  Sean, I may get frustrated at times, but I'll help if I can. We all want things to just work. Thanks for your efforts as well.

Guys. I have disabled DeskScapes. Using windows to apply a wallpaper.  Loading a WB now makes all 3 screens go black wallpaper.

Had to reinstall in a new drive running Win7 x64 Ultimate. Previews of mp4 are not showing

DS doesn't support .mp4. I had to convert them to .avi.

Many of your reported issues are are not clear .

You need to explain in better detail your issue and show

image SS and or video captures .

In this case what do you mean " previews " not showing ? what previews ? not showing where.

How does this relate to DS10 ?

Please explain from now on fully .

When I start D The only previews I see are for Deskscapes. The video previews (thumbnails) are blank when I switch to my videos which are mp4.

They showed up on my old hard drive. Since my old drive failed, I replaced it with a new hard drive and had to reinstall Win 7 Ultimate x64. Also had to reinstall all programs I had used on the old drive.

Thumbnails showed on my old drive. Small, large etc.

Thumb=Video capture

I hope this helps,

Her is what I'm talking about
