What programs do you use to create your files?

Hi guys.
I'm a newbie here and I'm interested in the programs you use for your work.
I mean, which ones for Icons, wallpapers etc.

I want to know the whole stuff, so please tell me. And sorry for my bad english, but I'm german, so...

To make your own or to use them?

Well, it's a matter of choice, and it depends on what you want to make.

For wallpapers, you mainly need talent. The tool you use to express your talent is your choice. A lot of people use Photoshop, some prefer Paint Shop Pro.  Some people like to use some 3D programs, one popular one being Bryce. But beware of Bryce, although it's easy to create something quick with it, it takes a long time (months, or even years of practice) before you can actually make something nice with it.

As for icons, again, there are different options. A lot of people make the actual design in an illustration program such as Abobe Illustrator or Corel, then import them in Microangelo or Axialis IconWorksop to make the actual icon.

There is no magic answer to your question. And no matter what software you choose, the most important is practice and talent.

There are several programs you can use to design or edit graphics. For instance;
LogonStudio lets you create Logons, but you need a paint program (eg. PhotoShop, CorelDraw, PaintShopPro) to create and edit images.
SkinStudio Lets you create and edit Window Blinds, but again you also need a paint program to create and edit images
WallPapers Can be made with numerous paint or 3D vector programs.
Winamp Skins are also made with paint programs
Im not too familiar with Icons or Cursors, but I know there are some programs available for them.
I guess you have to first decide what you want to start with and experiment.
There are also many websites that offers tutorials for each program, and that can help you get started.
Good luck on your proyects.

Oh, I have time, but I don't have tutorials to learn it...

I even have some programs to try, but I don't know, what I should try...

So, I need some links to tutorials, if you know some.

Mist.

I use CorelDRAW for 99% of my design, PhotoShop or Photo-Paint for some Resizeing and filters, IconWorkshop for compileing and tuching up Icons. And Skinstudio for Windowblinds skins.
Throw in a bit of notepad for some ini editing and paint for a bit of majic pink. and that is about it.

I'm just getting started too. I'm poor (not cheap) so I use whatever I can find that works. Paint Phop Pro, SNIco Editor is a nice little freebie icon editor. I just downloaded it. I'm ordering Bryce soon too. There is an online school for teaching you how to use several dozen different programs. It only costs $20 per course! www.lvsonline.com if you need somewhere to study with help from other students and an online teacher!

The program that I would go for is Photoshop, its a good all round program. As for just focusing on making wallpapers, you should be looking to give yourself a good working knowledge of the program first.
