Well, my son is 9 months old. He doesn't care whats on the screen - as long as it's moving.

I like the Fauxs-Toon skin because it is different and it fits well with the "Superman Jammies" photo of my kid on my desktop. I liked it enough that I ported it over to Rainlendar (with permission from Mormegil).

Most people who have seen it basically ask what OS I'm using because they don't know that you can do this kind of thing with Windows. But I get that response alot - regardless of the skin I'm using.

I definitly prefeer to use Fauxstoon skin with the toonxp dx items as it looks better. Why do I use it at all, mainly because I like it...no kids here besides me. Only person who's seen my desktop said "that looks cool".

It is a bit childish for me but i do like it. I'm more of a techy look type guy. But i have to say after seeing what can be done with the toon suite there are some real cool combinations of the skins used with object-bar,object-doc,iconpackager,sysmetrix and the fausx windowblind skin that really look great. Have to have the right wall to make that theme come-off as something a grown up would use. The cursor i cant use when working in Photoshop or 3d max but the GUI is really original and cool. I think it would be hard to come up with original ideas for skins all the time. They def got a original one here. i think its cool and very well done and will have the desktop setup with it when kids come over to use the computer. I'm sure they Will love it!!

I am such a bad speller...

anyway, does being able to customize your computer to these suites make it easier to turn on your computer to do work? Do you guys use it at work or just at home (Toon XP or any other skin suite)?

I have no children . . . yet. My wife and I have only been married 3 years and plan on having them in the future but none are on the way presently. I love the TOON XP suite. It's not that I necessarily like the childish theme as much as I appreciate hard work and good work. I don't feel any bit like a child because I like TOON XP. I appreciate the quality of the suite . . . Mormegil and those who worked with him put out something where EVERY bit of it is at a top-level rating. Not many suites are like that. I'm a Pastor any on Wednesday night, a bunch of guys from the church saw my desktop because I got talking to them about the limitless possibilities of Object Desktop. All the guys that I showed TOON XP to really thought it was neat. I didn't have one negative comment.
Bottom line: I really like the work. Keep it up Mormegil & gang!

a) If you have kids, do they like the skin and want to see it allot?

I have no kids. This is an innovative skin. It is innovative in its design. A lot of skins these days are middle of the road. They try to appeal to a large audience. In trying to do so you will never get a creative skin. Now this skin is special. It does not follow the middle of the road skin but does find a large audience because of its toons. Let's hope we don't get a lot of look alikes like this, but that skinners try different roads instead.

b) Does the skin make you feel good and kid like?

I just love its design and I don't think feeling like a kid has anything to do with it. Although I am known to be a kid that never wants to grow up.

c) when other people see your desktop or laptop what do they say when your using this theme (or any other for thast matter)?

In the case of ToonXP they wonder what website I am on
If they see other themes they'll ask what operating system I am running.
Coworkers dare not touch the machine. My employer said once when introducing me: "We think he has a computer too, but we are not sure. We know it is producing music."

So a better question would be (although I do wonder what kids think about the suite when they see it) how do you use the suite?

d)
There are allot of parts in a suite of skins, what parts do you use and what don't you.

e)
Is it the style of the skin you like the most or the functionality? Animations?

I like the Envision suite of skins very much, but it is not as toony as Toon XP. I figured that Toons have more appeal to more people and kids would also feel the skin is attractive. That is the other reason why I asked if you have kids do they like the suite.

While I am focusing on Toon XP, it could be other suites that some one might mention that to answer the questions.

Envision
Pix OS
Colony
Revel
Plava
that construction skin suite... by the community for the community...
(to name a few)

What makes it work for you?

d) me is using it allll I'm not letting any of it go to waste
(found an app for everything)

d) Everything he seemed to have made a skin that appeals to everything I like perfectly, I love the bold, vivid colors, the cute style of it, the shading is perfect, animations are not in the way they are smooth and just done right (not gaudy looking) I've seen alot of ppl do glass or gloss but he did it right somehow this one looks diff to me...

I think this theme is a theme that would be hard for "anyone" to make classy looking & right but he did both and it's the most perfect theme I ever seen and will most likely be my last one I will ever use...

Oh did I say I love this theme?

me is lazy right now that second d) should of course be your answer to e)

and I use the orange wall it matches better than the blue one...

Thanks for your help guys. I think Toon XP hit a point of overall appeal that I found very intriguing.

Further study on my part is needed before I put out an article on it. I guess I'll need to ask the authors some questions too.

At any rate I think Toon XP is the 'straw that broke the camels back' turning point of skin suites and its ability to be used and liked. I think it will help other skin suites even if it doesn't have the same appeal because people will be more accustomed to seeing a whole suite and what it does together.

hmmmmm... very interesting.

What I have written in the description of my Sysmetrix-port :

"IMO there are only a few WB-skins like this that show such a high ability in graphic techniques and sense for details. This is for sure one of my top ten skins of all times."

And out of curiosity : What Winamp2-Skin are You people using with the suite ?

Hey c242, how hard would it be to get a variation of that symetric skin where the second item instead of showing ip/computer it shows network trafic? I tried just editing one and changing it to net traffic but it just tried to overlay it on the top box.

Doreen, well I like the Blue(sans the logo of course hehe) otherwise its just tooo much orange/yellow for me using Mormegils variation, hehe.

As for which parts I use, part of the prob is Mormegil did his own variation on the skin which actually really compliments the Winstyle so:

All of the origonal theme pack,Toon sidebar and gages, c242's Sysmetric skin then replaced the main skin with FauxsToon skin, Rainlendar with an edited background, awaiting release of the port to trillian, for now T3 WMP skin (cant wait for a toon one hehe), and his new Login.

Oh and if you want some fun FREE loonytunes screen savers you can get some here http://looneytunes.warnerbros.com/looney_loot/loot_screensavers.html they also have loony buddie icons and walls as well
Hope it helps
Just Jess
