Where to put mods & how to use more than one?

Hello!

Is it possible to use more than one mod at a time? It seems that if I want to add a mod, I have to unload the one I'm already using.

For example I have the HRG v2.0 mod installed and now I want to add the Ultimate FX Mod, but in the read me it doesn't say anything about where to put the files or how to use it:

The Readme file just says:

"Welcome to the Ultimate FX Mod v 2.0 (MMV compatible) from I-Mod Productions!
This Mod unlocks many more Weapon effects of Twilight of the Arnor and adds some new Planet and Space textures, so your GalCiv II looks even more impressive!
The content is a demonstration of what will come to you in New Frontiers!"

So where do I put these files and how do I activate the mod without deactivating the HRG one?

Thanks!

You would need to combine them in the same mod folder.

If you have duplicate .xml files you would need to do some copying and pasting to merge them together, and if you have other duplicate files (like model or image files) you would have to decide which one you wanted to use.

Thanks for your reply Moosetek, appreciate it! I'll give that a try and see how I get on.

It can take some work on your part, that's for sure.

Some mods can simply be added in, and nothing conflicts.

My mod folder starts with KHSM, then more is added. I have parts from the Star Trek mod, Babylon 5, and some special modifications of my own.

One thing to remember... things like the TechTree.xml can exist in two places. The one in the Data folder replaces the original in its entirety, while the one in the Data\Techs folder appends to the main file. Others that are like that include PlanetImprovements, Anomalies, StarbaseModules, CustomPlanets - basically any .xml that has a corresponding folder in the mod folder structure.

It turns out that the files were all image and sound files, so I just overwrote the original files in their corresponding folders. There was one xml file.....GC2Types.xml in the data / english folder that needed changing, so I just saved the original one and pasted over the new one....seems to be working OK!
