I hate this game

3 hours of gaming, gone. Poof. I have 4 save files that were made during the course, and not a single one of them works. When i load them, GC closes and im staring at my desktop. How can all 4 save files be corrupted? ARGH!!!!!!!!

Does the game crash instantly, or at the turn cycle?

If its the turn cycle, you can delete the
Events.civ0 in the save game folder
and this has cleared up a similiar problem for me.

savegame folder is in the data folder.

It crashes instantly after loading 100%, on all save games. And the games were saved over the period of the 3 hours. I can understand how 1 save game can get corrupted due to some weird circumstances, but all four? Argh :( Going to reinstall from scratch, update to the newest 1.04, and start a new game. Hopefully this wont happen again

If you hadn't upgraded to 1.04 already, you might want to try that first. I had a game that started crashing, but loaded fine in 1.04.

To me it sounds like a hardware problem , if I was you I would starting to check your computer , GalCiv has it's problems but they are not that seriouse.
For the start test you memory using MemTest86 (http://www.memtest86.com/) ....

Just because it's crashes when you load a save does not necessarily mean that your save file is corrupted. There are other problems that can occur at exactly that same point. For example, if Galciv can't find the graphics for something, say a new ship you're just added, it will crash right after the 100% indicator and right before the status screen.

To see if it has something to do with the save, try starting a brand new game, saving it, then loading again. If you've installed any mods (especially ship mods), remove them and again try both the new save and your old ones. There's also a small possibility that one of your game files have become corrupted, perhaps due to a hard crash at some point, in which case you'd need to reinstall.
