Excalibur

Ive won a few games now, one on the crippling level. But I always thought the overlord was the end all of ships. Then I lose THREE!! overlords to a ship called the Excalibur.

Fortuantely, I took a planet a couple turns later and stole the tech myself. As I play the War Party and take a plus 10 to hps on top of that, and had tri-strontium steel, my bad boy had close to 700 hps.

So the long drawn game can be illuminating. I havnt won this game yet, but my chances look good. I just sold a minor race a host of techs for 27,000 bcs so I can buy a couple of my new ships.

I think we should have a mod based on the "Excalibur Alternative" book by David Weber.

Make some Ogre-class superdreadnaughts. Could be fun!

I have been able to get to Excalibur in most my games. In my last game, I was on neutral and simply picked it on the research list. If I recall correctly: Cost 3000, HP ~600, Att ~350, Def 80. Will probably take down a Deathstar (Def 68) with ease. :p

Btw, in all my games, I was the only one with Deathstars. AI doesn't seem to like them, granted, an adequately defended Deathstar is very expensive (defence modules + escorts).

I've seen the AI in the process of building Terror Stars, have never seen them complete or field one of them though.

Be interesting to declare war on them as I see one sneaking up on me... the opposite of what normally happens.

Being first in everything isn't very hard late in game but for all the Planets I'm guessing he took the evil path that gave him probably about 40%-50% better planet quality.

Yes, +PQ event on PQ26 planets. Yummy! Add in all the games +PQ techs and you got some big planets.

(The game was Gigantic/Fool as I was testing out some things...I dont know why I let it go on as long as I did lol)

wonkawonka: But the ogre-class superdreadnoughts got their butts handed to them by the sword-class superdreadnoughts, of which the Excalibur was one of them. Are you asking for something between an Overlord and an Excalibur? Or just better terror stars?
