Corrupted ship design

Ship design using templates and hard drive saved designs usually works for me for a while. That is until I have to delete a design, or rename a design, or re-create a design with the same name. Once I do this, all hell breaks lose. I get multiple copies of the same design upon saving, I get really old versions of the design I just created, all sorts of crazy things start happening. It's as though the game remembers old designs I made, even though I deleted them off the hard drive.

How the hell do I fix this? This has been an annoying bug ever since I started playing GC2 and it's never been addressed. Aside from the templates directory and the shipcfg directory, where is the game getting this stored info from?

How are you deleting them? From the game or from My Documents. Deleting them from the game does not remove that design's shipcfg file. You have to go to My Documents for that. That is why the game pops up that warning about giving designs the same name.

I have found this to bring old ships back from the dead.
