newbie question :)

I just bought this game over the weekend and enjoyed playing my first game (it was kindof unexpected when I won my first game culturally, but still a pleasant suprise) but I have a couple of questions:

In the negotiation screen with the other rival Civs and even the minor races, how can I find out what the other guys will offer for what I want to trade? I put in, say, a tech, but I have to keep putting in different money amounts and stuff until it turns 'green'.. is there a way to just click and find out what they'll offer for stuff?

Also, is there a newbie FAQ on here that might answer this (and any other) questions?

There isn't- I think Brad had said that he purposely left this out so that it would be more of a challenge. If you are desperate enough , you can go through every option, but I don't think too many will do that.
