What do you thinks the best 1pt civ bonus......

What do you thinks the best 1pt civ bonus to go with +15% PQ bonus just for any Empire not spasificly for a trader or a warrior.

It's hard to say.

If there's a 1-point morale pick (I can't remember), that might be good. Lucky might be good, although I haven't really noticed much change in my luck after the first time I used it. It really depends on the personality you want for your Terran Empire.

I wouldn't worry about any changes to range or speed (although they might be too expensive) since you'll statistically have far more usable planets within the usual range.

Economy is *always* good.
Manufacturing, not so good.
Population growth might be good as well.

It's really hard to say what's best, because my intended goal is different in every game.

I Like to choose Sensors when i have the +15%PQ. Means i only have to make 2 scouts, i have better chance or find resources, i find the planets faster, less chance of missing anything.

Just my preference tho

The one-pointers I choose together with my speed and economics bonuses are luck and pop growth.
I like to go for abilities that are "active" in every turn (as opposed to military abilities
which would only be useful during war or research which would only be useful if you are doing
research).

I personally like choosing +10% influence for my 1 pick with the 15% pq. But I just enjoy the thought of advanced alien life-forms eating McDonalds and listening to the latest top 40 hits.:)

McDonalds..*Shudders* We Humans are really a ruthless race ;) I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

I still stand by my sensor choice :D

I think... luck.

Several people have mentioned luck ... to be honest, I don't
have a good sense of what luck does for me.
(So if Dearmad or RayChua could comment on why they
like luck, I'd appreciate it).

If I have point left over after making other picks,
I tend to go for +10% Morale. It doesn't make a big
difference, but it helps me to postpone building
Entertainment centers for a little while.

I choose creativity, b/c I find that it actually affects my real-life creativity. If I play a game without it, I can barely figure out a nice way to set the table. Fortunately, it only costs 1 point. As an added bonus, it may actually have some effect in the game!

I got the 15% PQ and 1pt for 10% pop growth. I find early expansion to be much easier when my people breed like rabbits. With less habitable planets I'd definitely go sensor bonus.

I would like to think that luck gives a very slight bonus to all my dice-rolls (no explicit evidence though.. Brad's statement on luck was brief -

Creativity increses the chance that you'll get a technology sooner, it's a random event type thing.

Luck works similarly."

However, I do feel that I have been lucky with regards to random events. In my four games thus far, I've not encountered any serious game threatening random events.

In fact, in more than one game, i noticed in the diplomacy screen that races seem to be at war with the sharks and/or pirates but i'm wondering why i've not met any. I've had a fundamentalist event in my last game where they converted 8-9 systems but i lost none (maybe because my morale was good). My alignment was demonic (0).

Could be my imagination though as I finish all my games so far before i build my first battleship. So it could be because of the recent patch to defer game-breaking negative events to the late game.

I think for the other races war with the Pirates and Space Sharks is 'always on'. I've only played a few games but I can't remember NOT seeing it on any of their screens.

I usually go with 15% PQ and the last point in morale.

The idea is more planets, better planets and a higher max population.

Yes, the Pirates are a random event. They attack your trade ships, and if they get enough of them - no more trade route. :( Learned about those guys the hard way.

There seems to be luck specific events that can happen. When I was in a war with the Drengins, I was a little behind until I got a luck event saying my scientists had found a ranger class ship. Since nobody had battleships at that point, I was easily able to win the war:)

Pirates will also attack starbases and ships.

I had something similar happen, Norin. Only difference was that everyone had Rangers and I got a Corvette :notsure:

This may sound strange, but I always take the 1-point repair bonus. The reason is that basic repair comes up too late for my liking, and even then isnt good enough alone for a good turnover rate of damaged ships. With the repair bonus, early combats become that little easier.

I chose luck in my last game for the first time, and one of the comp civs got the Comeback event, where they become ridiculously powerful. I suppose I should have tried to beat them but it was a gigantic map, and I couldn't even get close to them before they totally dominated their part of the galaxy.

Of course, your experience may be different.

Luck and you get more event each time you colonize a planet which is considerable

Every time I've selected "Luck," some race has received the comeback event. I stopped using it for that reason, although I also got bonuses and ships more often.
