Installing V1.4 without the internet?

ok, i have a laptop downstairs with the internet. I have my computer upstairs which has GC2 installed, as V1.0, limited edition Europe edition. I have (last night) downloaded the V1.4 patch downstairs, onto my USB, and then installed it upstairs. Everything seemed to be working ok, until i tried to run the game. After finally entering the correct activation code (from the paradox pages), i then found that i was unable to run the damn game, the the activation key needs to connect to the internet! other than unhooking and rewiring the computer, installing the dial up software etc etc, is there any other way to get the upstairs computer to run V1.4?

I had a similar problem; my PC wouldn't connect to the serial register server at the time (a network problem, gone now).

Anyway, you go into your GalCiv2 directory and run "activate.exe". There should be an option to use email, follow that, take the text it tells you to email, send it to them (use a USB or floppy disk or something to get it to the laptop). Give them a day or 2, and you'll receive an email with a file attached. Pop that into the GalCiv2 directory and it'll work.
