Information Tables?

Will there be information tables available for the game or will I need to make some? For example: A list of all ship types with their various attributes shown for quick reference.

Is there a printed manual in the box?

There is a printed manual in the retail box. The downloadable versions and their accompanying CD shipments will include an online version of same.

The base ship information is readily available in some of the text files that come with galciv. JavaScout's website breaks these out into a more browseable format.

That said, remember that is the base ship info. Technologies, improvements, political parties, starbase modules, and upgrades can impact these. Some of them (like starbase bonuses) on a sector-by-sector basis.

For example, do you need better defensive bonuses around your home systems because you've been backed into a corner and the galaxy is against you? Add suitable starbase modules. Kick the crap out of anybody who comes calling. :)
