Combat stuttering

My combat stutters all the time as if game is playing the combat faster than it takes for it to calculate the results. I can fix it up if I adjust the combat speed so I know its not my computer... any ideas on how to fix so I play at 1x without any issues?

Simple answer... don't play at 1.0X, upgrade to 1.11. I had this problem when I first got the game, but since 1.11 it's been fine.

it seems that it's usually due to the computer having done the calculations before combat actually starts... and then rushes through the combat screen to catch up with where it is now..... don't know how to fix it though, I usually don't use tactical combat that often

He said he is having trouble with playing combat at 1x, not playing GC2 version 1.0x

In answer to the OP, expand your swap file to at least 2GB, 4 if you can afford the space, prefferably on a hard drive that is not attached to the same IDE cable as your main hard drive. I would also recommend that you upgrade your RAM to at least 1GB.

Or do what I did and just turn the "tactical" display off, it's just a playing-out of a precalculated scene anyhow.

you can also try lowering your resolution, refresh rate, or AA level.

it may be a bandwidth problem?

I have a new Athlon 64 3200+, 1 GB RAM, 6600GT and 200 GB SATA II HDD (1.6 GB swap file) and the combat stutters for me as well. I am playing 1.1 version. Maybe 1.2 will fix it, but it is really strange.

It happens on mine, and didn't begin until the new update. Crazy coo coo.

Oddly mine works fine until I turn on the explosions and then it goes nuts. Whole other problem though.

Your running the graphics to high. Most of you have only 1/2 to 1 gig of ram... thats not that much. Your running the newest graphics card but your bottle necked at your ram. Yes virtual ram helps but it has to write it to HD then swap it to memory then it can use it, only to be swapped again. Lower your res. if that fixs the problem you know its your computor and by looking at your specs, get more ram its really cheap.

I had this problem till I added RAM (I had 512 MB). It went away once I had more memory.

Turn off explosions. My game stuttered everytime I fought something, but as soon as I turned explosions off, no more stutter

Hmm, Despayre may be right. My game usually stops when an explosion is about to be shown. I will try it. But someone should tell Stardock to try to remake the explosions.
