I am not a Yo-Yo!

Prior to version 1.1 the amount of habitable planets on Abundant was pretty weak! Now came the 1.1 BETA and on Abun dant there was littarely minimum of 3 planets per star system! That's more like it I thought.... Now 1.1 is resealed and what? THEY CHANGED THE SETTINGS AGAIN! On abundant I get a bit more planets than 1.0X but not nearly as many as in BETA! For the love of God stop jerking me like a Yo-Yo! Make some sort of different settings maybe that depend of % that a player can set, I tired of stuff being chnaged arbitrarily where even if I play on same settings from patch to patch,e verythign still changes! It's screwing up my game, I have to change my strategy constantly so please stop it!

AFAIK it doesn't change, just your luck. I noticed absolutely no change between 1.1 beta and 1.1 final

To restate...making sure I undertand your complaint:

1) 1.0x didn't give as many planets as you'd like with the Abundant setting.
2) The Betas gave you a lot more.
3) 1.1 release is giving you more than 1.0x, but less than the Betas.

You see, "Beta" in programming means "test." That is why they warn you the game may be unstable, etc if you install it. As a "test" version they will also evaluate game play tweaks and adjustments like the number of habitable planets for each setting.

If your observations are due to an actual change/tweak, then the developers decided more planets than 1.0x was needed, but not as many as the betas, and tweaked the setting back down.

I don't recall this item being listed on the change logs, so it's also possible (if no tweaking is involved) that there's a certain randomness within each setting as well.

Either way, there's always going to be changes as the game evolves. I don't remember which version I was playing at the time, but the one time I chose Abundant habitable planets, each system had 4-5 and it just seemed like too many, but that's my personal taste.

i think it's a luck thing too. when i started playing i was convinced the settings also affected the average PQ and frequency of bonus tiles. but they don't. number of stars too: i've started a game or two on 'common' that had hardly any stars.

Maybe try it all on random, that way your heart won't be broken. Part of strategy games,(good ones) is getting blind sided and adapting to problems........

Well there must be a lotta bad luck about. Since 1.1 abundant yields about half as many planets and the quality goes down too.
I kinda that after finishing a game on masochist yesterday that the late game was a whole lot less tiring to play with these settings

If you don't like seeing the rules change, don't play with software in development. Since the changes made over the course of development and testing clearly upset your delicate sensibilities, you should probably stick to official versions. Even better, play console games. Those never change.
