Torians - The AI Slave Race

The current Torian AI is so annoyingly good at expanding that it manages to suck up half the galaxy in every game I play. Then it's defenses are pathetically poor, that in every game I play, I wind up beating up the Torians to take their many virutally undefended worlds...
Which leads me to being in the lead in terms of planets owned.
Which leads to victory.

It's kind of a sad formula for success. Somehow the other AIs don't seem to capitalize on the Torian weakness as much as I tend to. They seem more interested in good/evil conflicts. Whatever. In every game I make the Torians my slaves.

Try playing without them in your galaxy and see how it goes.

Also they aren't your slaves, they died to the last Torian defending their worlds. Or at least all the tax payers died...

It's wierd - every time I read about something like this, I just finished a game where the opposite happened.

I think it's got alot to do with the random AI distribution - I play on 'tough', but I'm pretty sure they AIs that end up being marginal players are the ones who got the short end of the stick.

Tough + the torians are real boogers as in they do defend much better, building on their lead.

I have learned to jump the Torians early on or they can become a real powerhouse in 1.1 on Tough and above. I don't totally wipe them out, I really enjoy having them around to whip on when I get mad.

Funny because with that strategy they are wiping me out in my current game! And it's only on Normal difficulty. I suck I know.

They are significantly tougher on Tough, agreed. On normal, I go through them like tissue. On tough... at least they put up a fight before they die.

Well the thing is I thought I had selected nine opponents while I had selected random. So on the huge galaxy I was playing it was me, the terrans, torians and the yor. The Torians expanded so quickly in the huge galaxy and they took out the yor before you could say 'what the...' and now they pawning me hardly since there miltary production is so much more than me. Oh and I am almost completely surrounded by them.... Oh well! Some you win some you lose!

The Torians make good trading partners, especially if you play as a goody-two-shoes. I'm playing good in my metaverse game and raking in the cash from the Torian trade routes. They're helping to finance an upcoming war on the evil Korx.
