Why is my starbase a lemon?

I’m so chocked; I’ve built up a starbase with the basic 3 defence bonuses (+3 to all) and +1 to attack. Yet none of my ships, within the starbase area of influence show any bonuses at all. Nothing, so when the huge Dregin fleet shows up, my puny fleet will be crushed.

How can I fix this? I’ve tried reloading, and adding an extra module to see if that jump start my starbase.

Starbases don't grant defence unless your ship has at least some defence on it's own. Similar for attack. Build ships with say 1 laser and 1 armour and you are golden.

Make sure the modules are ship assist, not starbase attack or defence, or you're just arming your starbase, not the ships. And, like entropy said, they need some defence to be boosted

Are you sure they require defenses to get the boost? It doesn't say "+30%" for the boosts, it says "+3" for the defense assist. I have some fleets where the ships themselves only have missile defense , but when my ships are within my starbase range, they show up as having defense against mass drivers and beam, as well as boosts to the missile defense.

So, if you have any sort of defence, you get all the addative starbase defensive bonuses.

And if you have any sort of attack, you get the addative starbase offensive bonuses.

The reason you need at least one point in defense is purely a game balance issue as I understand it. It's designed to prevent the player from using "empty" ships in large quantities fighting purely based on bonuses.

1 attack point in any category is sufficient to gain all offensive ship assist bonuses.

1 defense point in any category is enough to gain all defensive ship assist bonuses.
