SmartException error

Its gone wrong

Ok, technically this should go in the beta thread, but it's more a SmartException problem than anything.

I'm in the middle of my first metaverse game, I'm playing the Drath. And the game is crashing. This doesn't really bother me for three reasons a)I'm running msn and other apps that whore my CPU, b)My computer is most certainly NOT a gaming rig, and c) it's a beta. Beta's crash. I know this, and I installed anyway.

On an average day, I get one, maybe two crashes a day (CTD's, not bluescreens)

The game crashes repeatedly when I hit turn, has been doing so for a while. Usually two turns after I load it, so if I save each turn I make slow progress. My problem is SmartException won't work. It logs the crash, and I have previous debug.err files, but the error message I now receive is "SDCZip is missing" when I try and generate the exception.

Why is this happening? I have SDC on my comp, I don't think that's the problem, as I say it's worked before. Also, it's never crashed this frequently before, it's normally if I alt tab too much when not in windowed mode.

I can't find the precise specs to my comp, other than Intel pentium 4 3.0 ghz, 1 gig RAM,and the cards are x300/x550 series, with the catalyst 6.3 drivers from ATI.com installed (newest I could find)

As I said, without the ability to look at smartexception, I can't see why the game is crashing, there has to be a specific thing killing it.

Any help anyone?

Your debug.err will also show your last debug messages before you crash. I don't know much about SE at all, but if you wanted to post your most recent debug.err I would be happy to take a look at it. I downloaded SE myself but haven't had a need to use it so far.

AppName : GALCIV2.EXE
Crash Details : 0x574b96 - [1.0.0.1, Windows XP Service Pack 2 - (2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519), RADEON X300/X550 Series (6.14.10.6601) + SigmaTel Audio]

User Instructions :

ah. Right. So, it took it when I accidentally booted the game while doing something else, ignored it for half an hour, and it crashed. That's the only SE file I have.
Incidentally, the game decided to work. No idea why, just loaded and no problem. Still no SE though
EDIT: Before anyone asks, yes that's the full file. The game crashed before the opening sequence because I ignored it for so long.
